I just heard the soundtrack, thought it was hilarious. I’m also a long-time Mel Brooks fan. Just wondering if anyone has seen it, what they thought, favorite parts, etc…
Sakura went to see it this summer. Loved it. She’s been very silent on the Board for a year or so (kinda busy) but maybe this will bring her out of her shell. I’ll mention this thread when she gets home from school today.
I haven’t, but my friend Stacey saw it during the preview week. The words “must be seen to truly be believed” were bandied about.
I have the soundtrack, too. It’s so funny on its own that I can hardly believe it gets even better with live action, but it must be true. Your milage, as milage is wont to do, may vary, of course.
I am going to see it in December, I can’t wait!
Broderick, Brooks & Lane on Broadway? It’s a no-brainer!
The Mrs and I saw it in June. We went on our anniversary trip. We planned it months in advance. I was picking our shows and covered the bases (I had 2nd row center for Phantom and decent orchestra seats for Chciago with Vicki Lewis). I left Saturday night open in case I could convince the wife to take in a ball game (I failed and we wound up seeing Annie Get Your Gun with Reba), so I decided to get a matinee. I like light hearted fare for matinees, so I scanned the schedule. I saw that Mel Brooks had a play coming out. Mel’s always good for a laugh, so I bought tickets. I was suprised to see that my tickets were midway in the mezzanine, yet they cost more than either Phantom and Chicago. I thought nothing of it and put the tickets away. I didn’t even know the cast. As the time came closer to out trip, I started hearing more and more about it. The raves were pouring in and I was getting stoked. On the plane, I read a cover story about the play on Talk Magazine. When Saturday arrived, the atmosphere outside the theater was like a circus. When the curtain lifted, I started laughing within a few minutes and I don’t remember stopping. Lane got most of the buzz but for my money Broderick was the show! They played off each other VERY well. I also thouroughly enjoyed the director character. A great play. I wonder what will happen to it when the cast changes. I don’t know if this one will be a long running play.
