Hubster is in ICU (Update: Now Home and Recuperating)

Ha! My son said the same thing. lol

Well our low sense of humor is at least widely shared (me too!) but our well wishes are sincere and equally widely shared!

And your husband seems on the way to being treated, unlike our sense of humor, which remains well and truly chronic.

Flomax capsules can be opened, just not crushed.

From drugs.com:

Swallow the capsule whole and do not crush, chew, break, or open it.

So glad to hear he’s on the mend. Having just watched Death by Lightning, the miniseries on the Garfield assassination, that word “sepsis” in the OP made my blood freeze a moment.

I’m happy to hear he is making improvements. One day at a time, take a relaxing breath at the good news and the progress.

Wrong thread… sorry.

He’s transferring tomorrow. And tada! Managed to pee today. They gave him cardura? The pharmacy flat refuse to dispense flomax for use in the peg tube.

Great!

Outstanding news!

Every tiny step in the right direction adds up. And a reminder, because it seems likely, I’d expect an uneven process, with more than enough “two steps forward, one step back” moments. So prepare yourself for the emotional rollercoaster, and don’t forget the aggregate improvement for worrying about the setbacks.

Not that you haven’t both done well throughout this (with at least emotional support from family and your weird internet family/friends), but speaking from personal experience with family members in poor health, it’s when those setbacks happen that the optimism can come crashing down into despair or frustration.

Again, be prepared for it, and it doesn’t negate all the good done so far. Doesn’t mean it still won’t hurt or frustrate, but the forethought can work like a good seatbelt and at least prevent the emotional whiplash.

Oh, and a spare hug because I don’t know if you’ve been treating yourself well despite the emotionally and physically heavy load you’re under.

:hugs:

We brought him home today, and he’s doing pretty well. His backside is sore and his g-tube is pretty irritated. He’s got some odd memory quirks but nothing major. They did some odd things with his meds I’ll be glad to see his primary Friday to figure it all out. He’s also on a Foley catheter.I still think he needs flomax. We’ll see what his primary says.

So glad that he’s home!

Glad that he’s home, which should be comforting for him, decrease his disorientation, and of course, remove the time and energy you spent on all the travel back and forth.

I have zero concerns you’ll become complacent, but still suggest you sneak a bit of time for yourself, if nothing else to get caught up on your sleep.

And here’s hoping the rest of the the process is without any major setbacks!

Yaay! Good luck keeping the train on the tracks for the next while.

So happy to hear you have him back! Best wishes for continued improvement. Please let us know what the Primary says. . .
