Huckabee, Palin, Trump...

I thought Rape Month was over.

Yeah, I think that demonstrates just how over it is.

It’s just not that easy to repatriate anywhere.

I think Huckabee said Obama was born here but raised in Kenya by Communists, or something. Which is insane, but not ‘birtherism’.

Of the rest, I don’t think any of them are really running for President except Bachmann. The people who are making serious runs for the President are the ones you mentioned (Pawlenty, Barbour, Romney). And they’ve all explicitly said they weren’t birthers.

I think the ‘real’ candidates have all concluded that birtherism might excite certain segments of the base, its not really worth the damage it does them amongst the rest of the electorate.

Trump was on State of the Union this morning. He’s got a pretty hard nose attitude on China. That attitude might be worth looking at as an issue when the campaigning heats up.

This is how we got GeeDubya. Floundering about for months, maybe run Dole again? Then somebody said something about, well, how about this guy? Kinda light-weight, but very personable, likeable. Then, the money came rolling down on him like an avalanche, and he was clearly the front-runner in a matter of days. Then, he was sorta kinda elected.

So I’m thinking its gonna be Jeb, the smart brother. He’s resolutely not running but two bits says he will accept a “draft”.

He has some pull with Hispanic voters as well. He also has a great campaign theme song.

It won’t be Romney. Everything that the Right hatesw in Obama, Romney is on record supporting at one time or another. Our local left-wing talk radio host has been having a field day with that for months now.

Said as if the right has political consistency. They championed a draft dodger over a veteran in 2000 and 2004.

Yep. Cognitive dissonance is not something to be underestimated when it comes to politics. Look how many “family value” types get away with very messy family lives.

Also see the tea partiers championing the government in Wisconsin, opposing the rights of workers. they bussed in those freedom-loving, government patriots to counter-protest workers and side with the government.

Well, he spouted off about him being raised in Kenya by scary people. Later when he was called out on it he changed it to Indonesia and stated Obama was probably born on U.S. soil so I guess you are technically correct. Since he felt the need to qualify it I don’t see it as too far removed from a full blown case of birtheritis so that’s why I lumped him with the others.

In the end you may be right. I just think there is a chance the most rabid of the birthers may see it as selling out.

Ryan is demonstrating retardation in his public pronouncements. The last one standing will be Romney.
I wonder if he will become a birther. There is a segment of the Republican party that can not get over the birthing. It is a coverup for being anti black. They are not fooling anybody with that crap .

They are, in fact, fooling themselves.

In 1964 they said “in your heart, you know he’s nuts.” Today, in our heart we know the entire Republican party is nuts.

Oh c’mon. Be fair. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe aren’t nuts. Neither is Dick Lugar. And Mitch Daniels is probably the least nutty of the younger generation.

All of them do exhibit an amazing ability to keep their mouths shut as the nuttiness swirls around them like a tornado…

Not at all. They know better than anyone President Obama is a natural born citizen, birthplace Honolulu, bona fide US of A. However, to a sector of conservative USA, you look real badass by putting out an argument you and your audience know to be untrue. That’s the principle Donald’s working from, f’rinstance.

Only if they want to self destruct.

Well it’s nice to know I don’t have the monopoly on … is there even a word for this kind of post? I wholeheartedly agree, by the way. For the most part. Except, cheese.
