Hug an Engineer!

juadI’m going to be an engineer!!Yay for engineers!hugs them all:slight_smile:
Boy,this is going to a lot of college…muttersJPL better leave a space for me open :D…coughsok well , maybe…probably won’t get that far:(

I’m the daughter of one engineer, the sister of another, and, so help me, I think like an engineer. I also happen to know one who’s proving emminently huggable. Sounds like a good plan (or excuse!) to me!

CJ

Mechanical and Electrical engineering rules!!!so does everything else, but those are my favorite:Dgrins

runs off

I had no idea we had a whole week either. Kind of ironic – I’m going on a business trip next Monday.

Tripler
But hey, if you’re buying, I’ll join your office. Then I’ll get the second round.

I teach Thermo. I rule.

Now for the Engineer’s cheer. Pretend you have pom poms:
e to the x, dy dx
e to the x dx
integrate it
calculate it
e to the x dx

Well, if one of our grants comes through, I’ll have plenty of mapping to do. How do you feel about UTM Zone 12?

Of course, given the timeline that government grants usually put me on, I could easily be on the 37th round by then. But hey, you’re welcome anytime you’re buying!

D’oh! You’re in Zone 12 - I meant zone 11.

Thanks FairyChatMom. It pretty damn bad out there still, but I actually have a couple bites. I’ll probably take a pay cut too, dammit.

Thanks FCM!! I could use a few hugs.

and Pictsie that is absolutely the cutest cheer.

Bolding mine. I am glad you included us, even if it was secondary. I am not too busy or caffeinated, so, who wants to hug me? Although I thank FairyChatMom for the thread (thanks!), I would rather be hugged by a man… I didn’t know we had our own week!

My father’s degree was in chemical engineering, and my older sister’s a civil engineer with the Corps of Engineers.

But I don’t think like an engineer - I’m not the useful type. So I’m a math geek instead.

Don’t forget about St. Patrick’s Day, too. After all, St. Patrick was an engineer.

I’m an electrical engineer in training. I just finished thermo…hopefully I passed!

I’m properly impressed. I managed to get a B in thermo but I don’t remember much of anything about it. And I’ve never had to use it. My husband, OTOH, loved the class and actually got to apply thermo stuff when he did design work in the wire mills.

My most vivid memories of Thermo include one idiot classmate, plus I wrote one of my best poems while sitting in that class. It was the only time I had to go into the ME building. I was more at home in Grissom Hall, being an Aero and all.

Engineers get their own week? That is SO unfair! What we really need is a national lawyers’ week. Trust me, we need a hug and a kiss a lot more than most engineers do.

C’mon over here and share your engineering stories.

Nathan S, best I can offer you is Lawyers Weekly. Sorry…

Q. Is the glass half empty or half full?
A. Yes.

It’s always handy if you want people to hit you.

{{{{engineers}}}}

Thene there’s the Dilbert where he says “It’s a good thing I stored half my water in this redundant glass”

BSEE here, tho employed in the software field. I DID take Thermo, and did well-ah steam tables and constant enthalpy.

Brian

Thanks for the effort, but that’s just not gonna cut it. Dammit, I want my own week!

Well, FCM, I flunked thermo twice at Purdue, and it convinced me to go elsewhere to become a EE… Since I have 2 degrees that say I’m an engineer and about to start a 3rd, I have to be one…

Besides, Thermo is for weenies. Real engineers have to pass Electric Fields (and I did on the first try).
