I will now respectfully step out of this thread and leave all you House fans, whose appreciation of the show I honor and admire even though I’ve never been able to share it, to get on with your grief and acceptance in peace. I feel your pain, folks, honest.
So, what do you think Laurie should move on to do next?
[exits jauntily whistling “Ding Dong, the Witch Is Dead”]
Hugh Laurie in movies and music and whatever other aspects of showbiz he wants to do is just fine with me, even if he never again has another megahit starring role on the small screen.
[switches tune to “High Hopes”]
Hugh Laurie and Peter Jacobson are pretty much the only reason’s I watch House anyway. I’m sure I’ll be seeing them in other venues . . . not to mention endless reruns.
I liked House, especially the interaction between Laurie and Jacobson, until some nitwit decided House needed a love interest. Ruined the show for me. I’d love to see Hugh Laurie added as a cast member on Community :D.
I’d love to see another book. I LOVED “The Gun Seller”! Maybe direct and star in a film.
I did love “House” in the first few seasons, but the last few-- since he went into the nut job house of Princeton-- it went beyond ridiculous for any of the characters. Everyone became… annoying. (???) Well, that’s how I’d describe it, I guess.
I think the worst was a whole season dedicated to his pending drug charges. There’s NO WAY any narc detective would be budgeted to follow one nutcase doctor who’s addicted to pain killers for more than a couple weeks.
Blackadder: Back and Forth was enough to convince me that they should never attempt to do Blackadder again.
I have watched House all the way through. (In no small part because my wife is more enthusiastic about it than me.) I think they did all right for such a long run, but for sure it was time to hang it up.
Yeah, seeing as Hugh brought home as much for a single episode of House as the beeb is currently budgeting to compensate the lead for about three series’ worth, this is a bit of a pipe dream.
Maybe if they could scale back the production values to Pertwee era levels…
Mostly though Doctor Who is considered by the BBC to be family viewing. And it’s the kids that will have the say in those households. And they don’t know who Hugh Laurie is.
