Humanitarian organizations for children: I've got a friend in need.....

I received an email from a friend of mine working in Honduras. She was trying to find out how she could get some sort of aid for the children she’s working with. I figured I’d help her “cast the net.” Here’s what she said:

Hey everyone,

I know that for some this is randonm but I want to cast the net as wide as possible. For those who don’t know I am living in a children’s home in Honduras for 3 months. I got here last week and it is very much learn as I go. I am the mother of 3 boys, Christofer, 3, Fernando, 3, and Elias, 5. They all have extreme emotional and behavioral problems as well as learning disablilities. I also help with the other 35 children…It is clear to me that a lot of the children need specific educational help due to ADD, Dyslexia, retardation and one of our boys is deaf. We need a solution in the form of a special education professional to come permanantly, or money to start a program or even someone to come evaluate the kids to tell us what to do. Just one example is my Elias, he is clearly extremely ADHD, but he is labeled as a bad and unintelligent child because he is hyper and can’t focus on his work. Will ask around for ideas. Send this on to anyone who might have ideas. I really appreciate it.

It’s funny that just this morning I started the thread about ADHD around the world.

I sent my friend the links to Médecins Sans Frontières, UNICEF, Tzu Chi Foundation, and Children’s Network International, yet I don’t know if any of these are specificially what she is looking for.

I’m just wondering if anyone here has any other ideas that I could pass on to my friend.
