Hunger and stress

Here we are approaching lunch time and I realize that I’m not at all hungry. This time yesterday I was starving. The amount of food I’d eaten yesterday was actually slightly more than what I’ve had today. The big difference is the stress level. Yesterday was very stressful and today hasn’t been so far.

Is the “stress=hunger” a genetic thing or a conditioned thing, or some combination? I’m thinking in my particular case since I, shall we say, have not been a wise user of food most of my life, it would skew toward conditioned. Plus, getting hungry while dealing with a stressful situation doesn’t seem evolutionarily very sensible.

Dang, now that I’m thinking about it I’m getting all hungry…
