Hunt for Bed October in the MMP

Howdy Y’all! The whatever it is upgrade form teh intartoobz started today. We are sans wifi until it gets done which hopefully will be tomorrow. I am usin’ my iPhone hotspot to write this post on my tablet. The laptop does not like it apparently. The connection is wonky. I have no clue why. I am sure at least some of it is due to PEBCAC. The closest is ruly once again. It wasn’t awful, just a matter of makin’ things tidier. We tend towards messy. There are a few articles of clothin’ that will be taken to Goodwill next time we head toward the local donation center. The biiiiiig trash can got hauled all the way back up from the road to where it stays. I t also got a rinse out. Sup got made and et. Leftovers for tomorrow even.

MOOOOOOM prayers and healin’ vibes for your mom. BBBOO has the best advice I am sure.

Coppertone good news about the move. Hope you can figure out the job stuff.

Evening all. Back from the gym and calories reloaded with a trip to Wendy’s, so have an excuse to go back tomorrow (to thefym, not Wendy’s). Down to 72F now and will get into the mid-60’s tonight so the AC is getting plenty of rest.

Oh, I am, I am… :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

FCM, hope the tree-cutting went well (and I see that it did). And good wishes and positive waves to your Mom, hope she is doing better (and reading further, well, damn, a broken hip is not good anytime and at 91..). Won’t offer any advice because BBBoo has it covered.

Flyboy, your comments on ShareFile and SharePoint are making me glad to be retired. And that plus the CVS and the BMRCA cockups probably made this a Moanday indeed…

So, things will improve?

Awww…thanks for the compliments, it’s really just to get me out of the house and away from the food, plus with sauna and whirlpool there are some opportunities to relax there too. Scale was right at 200lbs on the nose today, which is my goal weight, so we’ll see how close I can stay to it.

Coppertone, if you have to choose, choose the one that fits your schedule/needs the best…only you can determine that.

swampy, had to google “PEBCAC”. but ain’t it the truth (often on us, I’m afraid).

And that’s all for now. Must get back to resisting snackage (at least until tomorrow…).

BMCRA. Big Multinational Credit Reporting Agency.

Sometimes, you should leave well-enough alone. ‘If it works, don’t fix it.’

I hope that the walker works out for your mother, Moooooooom.

So, yeah… Moanday sucked. I had to have comfort food for lunch: ground beef & broccoli, with mayo and sriracha. I had it for dinner too.

The shopping trip went well on Saturday. There was a ginormous gaggle of geese! 20-30. One shopping area is on the Delaware river on what was a shipping pier. Reckon they were getting a bit shopping done before flying on.

I have today and tomorrow off, so I’m on my own sleep cycle. Zonk out around 2-3 am, wake up around 9-11. Then back to work sleep cycle, bed around 11, alarms at 6:30, 7, and 7:30.

I hope things go well for fairy chat grandmom.

Happy Moanday! As I expected, my flu-ish symptoms are gone. Yay! However, also as I expected, the autoimmune joint pain in my hands and feet lingers. I’ve tried calling my pharmacy to find out when I can start back on prednisone, but I keep getting a recording saying they can’t take my call. It takes 2 weeks after the flu vaccine for it to fully take effect, so I’m guessing no steroids before then.

Yesterday afternoon, I had a virtual cocktail party via Zoom with my daughter, my sister, and my niece. It was great fun and just what my daughter needed–lots of laughter, lots of love. Her hubs made her a 3-olive martini for the occasion. My sister and niece had margaritas. I had a --please help me, doggio and flyboy–something made with this blackberry powder, ice, and equal parts bourbon and tap water. It was good.

The running total for tomatoes off my son’s and DIL’s 3 bushes is at 120 pounds and counting. Yipes. And he harvested corn yesterday because the rainy season starts today. He had to climb a ladder, as the stalks are 11.5 feet high. (He’s 5’9.)

I’m very worried about the Portland situation. I have a family member who works there. (In these days of justifiable paranoia, I won’t say who.) This person is not white but was born and raised in the US and is a US citizen, not that that protects anyone these days. If this is considered a political comment, I’m sorry. I don’t know how else to express why I’m worried for my family.

It’s been raining off and on all day. I’m so happy. I love the rain. Hopefully it’ll still be raining when I head to bed in a bit. There are few things as soothing as listening to the rain while lying in a warm bed.

Bedtime: it depends on how tired I am, but I try to be in bed by 10:30. My kids used to laugh because I often got a fortune cookie fortune that said, “The nightlife is for you.” It’s not that I was in bed early, as I was usually up late grading, which had to wait until dishes were done, homework supervised, chilluns tucked in, etc. It was that I never went anywhere. My eldest sister is a gifted sleeper. She goes to bed early and is asleep within minutes. She says it’s due to a slow metabolism and a clean conscious.

Speaking of sleep, my sleep doctor quit. He didn’t give notice or anything. Just quit and walked out, apparently. What’s next, the Sandman going on strike?

Moooom, sending prayers upward and thoughts outward for your mom. Possibly foolish question: how DO they treat a hip fracture that’s inoperable?

A groan and an eye roll from me, the highest praise for a pun!

Coppertone, hope things work out for you re: the job(s!. It’s been a long time since you’ve been employed for a long time, hasn’t it?

I was just wondering the same thing.

I haz a very derp, plz enjoy

Imgur

Thank you! And it appears New York Times is getting with the program, as they also include weights. Woo hoo!

Sends healing thoughts westward. Does non-operable mean that it’s not necessary to operate? Taking notes from BBBoo to forward to my parents. My dad’s mostly given up on stepstools, and my mom’s not able to use one, so at least that risk is reduced.

Yay! I don’t know the status of all the forest fires, but I hope the rain helps whatever’s left.

:smiling_cat_with_heart_eyes:

When I was in the hospital and couldn’t sleep, the night nurse brought me orange blossom tisane. Supposedly it’s beneficial for insomnia. Cite. I couldn’t find any in any of the stores near me, but I did find some tisane that includes it, as well as other herbs which are supposed to be helpful for insomnia. Not sure how much is mind over matter, the ingredients, or the warmth of the tea, but it seems to help.

I figured out that yesterday’s pain when walking was due to the steri strips no longer doing their job, and there was tension on the stitches. Added new steri strips and I’m much more comfortable. Hubby’s going to pick up more at the pharmacy near work. I’ll check the grocery store, but they probably don’t have anything beyond the basic bandages.

Also need more bananas and nitrile gloves, which I use to apply a messy salve. I could skip the glove, but because of the salve’s composition, it takes a lot of soap and water to get the paste off my hand, so I just use a glove.

Lunch today is chicken curry with green beans (from the freezer, which I originally cooked in July) and basmati rice, which I’ll make today. I’ll make a bigger batch of the rice, and then add cream, milk, raisins, honey, vanilla, and spices to make a small batch of rice pudding. It’s not as good as the baked rice pudding, but it’s still much better that store-bought, and it’s warm. Which is the only way my husband will eat rice pudding.

I bought cream some time ago, thinking it would be no problem to use it up in time. The best by date is tomorrow, so I need to start using it. I know it’ll be good for a while, but I have a quart to use up. There will be more pudding in our future.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
Tonight’s conversations with Spot:
“Don’t put your foot in it.”
“NYET!”
“I can out-unhinged maniac you.”

Sort of a blackberry bourbon smash{also good with lemon)

{{{{nellie}}}}

“I clean myself, for my primate refuses to lick me clean.”

As long as you eat your meat.

Hey, y’all. A reminder that if you’d like a postcard, you can message me your address. I’m about to send some out.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 12c/53f with a predicted high of 17c/62f and partly cloudy. Weather app approves and says “Finally, a day without fucking swamp ass.”

That sounds like a right faff, I hope IT can work out something easier for you.

I am sorry to hear that, falls at that age can be much worse than for younger people. I hope she is ok, will keep fingers and paws crossed, and send healing vibes from across the pond!

:people_hugging: I honestly think that at this stage, I’d be worried about anyone, no matter who they are, or what colour they are :frowning:

I got a big purple box that says “content is not viewable in your region”

Yesterday was an uneventful day, the highlight of which was a trip to the grocery store! I didn’t achieve much apart from collecting up the recycling and hauling the biiiiiig bin out to the kerb for today’s collection (which happened around 7am). I have been outside this morning haul said biiiiiig bin back to where it lives.

I did spend far too much time watching “Outlander: Blood of my Blood” last night, which meant I was later to bed than usual but does not matter because I’m not at irk today. My plan for the day is to pick up cat litter from the pet store, then pop over to Little Paws HQ to collect some stuff, then have a lazy afternoon before making campus food for the next couple of days. I’m working from home on Friday as we’re out seeing bands on Thursday and I didn’t want to be getting up early after that! Also, ‘im indoors will be home so he will probably be going to the gym and picking up food from our favourite Indian food truck in town so I have that to look forward to.

Huh. I can see the derp.

Went to the grocery store and got the bananas and nitrile gloves that were on my list, plus toast bread (50% off), hard-boiled eggs (50% off) and mayonnaise, so I can make an egg salad sandwich.

I still have marshmallow fluff and peanut butter, so maybe I’ll finally get around to making myself a fluffernutter sandwich. And maybe I’ll make one with banana slices. Or is that too healthy?:upside_down_face:

Good mornin’ y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 70 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 80 and cloudy. Still no WiFi. Looks like I will have the joy of makin’ a call about it. Woo and hoo. It’s also laundry day. The excitatement around here knows no bounds. Fortunately I have nowhere I have or want to be in case I get to hang around for someone to show up. Sup will be leftovers from last night.

Die haven’t had a fluffernutter in years. I would at times fling caution to the wind and add a’nanner. I was a lot wilder back then. Peanut butter and sliced ‘nanner on toast is a go to breakfast however.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I must suck it up and deal with AT&T. The horror!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

No idea. I didn’t hear back from either sister last night, so I texted this morning for an update. Something tells me everyone is sleeping in.

If you want to message me your email, I’ll send it to you that way. No clue why it’s considered not viewable. Weird.

There’s a spot on my ring finger under my wedding band that looks and feels like poison ivy. Dunno what the heck it is - when I was cutting up wood, etc, yesterday, I was wearing gloves. But it drives me crazy! At the moment, and for several different moments yesterday, I took off my ring. Weird.

We’re going to meet Otis this morning, heading back to our Virginia stomping grounds. While we’re across the river there, maybe we’ll venture further to Fredericksburg. Or not. But the timing will align with lunch, so maybe…

That’s the only thing on today’s agenda. At some point, I’ll probably turn the leftover chicken into chickie salad. Or not. Who knows? The day will just unfold as it will. Perhaps adventures await??

Happy Tuesday!

Finally heard from my sister. They kept Mom overnight. That’s all I know for now. I’m not surprised - she’s going to need some kind of PT or OT before she can go home. So I wait for updates.

Good morning all. Just finished my Big Bowl O’Cereal (Corn Flakes today) with an apple and have opened up the windows to enjoy the 64F weather and air out the house for a bit (it’ll be getting to 86F later today, so the windows will need closing and the AC will get a workout, but right now it’s wonderful). Nothing much on the agenda for today.

So,is that true of Spot or You? (Or both).

shoe, great picture.

Unfortunately lots of bosses take the view that ‘If it works, I bet I can make it work better’ (voiceover–They usually can’t).

rocky, you’d like our pond near the soccer fields, we have 30-40 geese there, which is nice to see, except when they cross the road or poop on the soccer fields…

nellie, sounds like you had a wonderful time with your long-distance family, son’s green thumb is pretty amazing. And worry about family here.

FCM, hope the meeting with Otis goes well. I know you have reservations about getting another dog, so make sure that this would be a good fit FOR YOU as well as FCD. And some more best wishes for your Mom.

I got both jabs on Sunday (flu and covid), yesterday I felt slightly feverish and zero energy so I lolled around in bed all day. The cats approved. I’m all achy today, but that might be caused by all the lolling. I hope your pain goes away soon, I’ve done my morning TC routine and I feel better now that l’ve gotten things stretched and moving.

I’m still tired, though so this will be another low energy day.

Dang about your mom FCM. I hope she gets along with her walker, there are some pretty snazzy ones out there nowadays.

I am very worried for them as well.

Poor guy. I’m sure he didn’t quit his job, he quit management.

I really did like my last job. I was good at it and I helped people every day. I walked out mid-shift because I couldn’t take the manager (who was forced out a month later) one more day.

:smiling_cat_with_heart_eyes:

If you don’t need to get your whole hand covered with the paste, just a finger…cut the fingers off your gloves and use one finger each time instead. You’ll be throwing out fewer gloves that way.

I hope the visit goes how you want and that you enjoy the drive. I’ll bet it will be lovely once you get off the interstate.

So Jolene just wandered in and curled up on the loveseat for a nap. That means its time for me to change the sheets and get laundry going. I’m retired, I can outwait the fuzzbutts and they sleep more than I do.

Thanks - message has been sent  It might just be that it can’t get through the firewall ‘im indoors has set up, or it hasn’t got the right documentation to get into the UK ‘cos we’re big on that now, apparently.

Quite the handsome puddy tat! <3

Swamp ass? Around here, that’s jacket weather. :stuck_out_tongue:

Which is one of the reasons that my BIL is now carrying his passport with him wherever he goes.

Or get some finger cots.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. I’ll hit Food Town today for what few groceries that I need so’s Sis and I can spend our day out tomorrow doing things like thrifting and going to Chinatown. I’ll make the curry tonight that I made the tamarind paste for yesterday.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
