Huntsman Cheese

Oh my Og, I discovered this while noodling around in our local Mollie Stones market (a local SF Bay area chain with fairly upmarket food). It consists of alternating layers of Double Gloucester and Stilton cheeses. I had never seen it before (it’s not all that rare around here, apparently, since Trader Joe’s also carries some). Anyway, it is heaven in a plastic wrapper. I have been nibbling/scarfing it up all evening.

So, have you tried this one? Or, what’s your favorite cheese combination? This one will do for me.

I first had Huntsman cheese as part of ploughman’s lunches when I vacationed in the UK. Yum!

Huntsman is my favorite. I rarely buy it because of the cost.

Pretty much the yellow & white cheese layer-cake version of Heaven.

So please tell me exactly what a ploughman’s lunch is? In books it sounds like you get some rustic bread and some cheese (and some kind of interesting pickle) and you make a sandwich out of it. Is there more to it than that?

Rustic bread, cheese, pickle, beer. That’s your basic ploughman’s. Served as pub grub, along with dishes like steak and kidney pies.
