Hurrah! It's a Polar Bear question.

A late night, last week. Beer had been consumed, and during the ensuing conversation a “fact” was suggested, to which we all paid little credit at the time.

Something about Polar Bears which we all pretty much dismissed out of hand, and moved on with the conversation, leaving the “fact” suggest-or to stew in a corner for a while muttering “but I’m right… I’m right.” Until we sent him to get more beer.

But then this afternoon the same “fact” was mentioned by a completely independent source. Which leads me to believe my friend may have had a point. Now if he does, we all owe him several beers. But I can’t imagine he’s possibly right.

So I turn to the most learned people I know of. Does my friend have a point? And, thereby, a pint?

Are all Polar Bears left-handed?

According to the World Wildlife Fund website

Right up there with the quack-echo thing.

You mean to say that a left-handed bear’s quack doesn’t echo? And no one knows why?

Well I know that if a polar bear hits a duck with it’s left paw, it probably ain’t gonna quack no more.

Here’s another one: When a polar bear is hunting during the winter, will it cover it’s nose as it stalks it’s prey - so it can blend in with the surrounding snow and ice?

Another important fact: a polar bear does NOT shit in the woods!

Polar bears are black. Polar bear hair does not act like fibre optic cable (much to my surprise).

It’s True!
