By the time the Brothers had me in their clutches, corporal punishment had ceased. thats not to say some of them still had their switches. They probably wished they could go back to the old days on many occasions.
One of the funniest was when I was in first year. I was 12 yrs old. There was a Statue of Edmund Rice with his hand on the head of a young boy, standing beside him. his hand wasnt touching the boy. Remember that, its important.
One day, the statue (which was about 4 foot high, and made of marble) went missing. all that was left was the plinth.
The Statue turned up, 2 days later on top of a wall overlooking the main road that ran beside the school. The boy had been broken off, and was now placed standing face inwards into the E.R’s midsection.
A Joker-esque smile had been painted onto E.R’s face.
They never found out who did it.
