I accidentally bought pumpkin seed oil instead of olive oil

Can I use it interchangeably with olive oil? Or will it impart some weirdo pumpkin flavor to things?

You can hope! Mmm, pumpkin.

Did you taste it? Is it dark brown, or the same color as the olive oil?

I have pumpkin oil, but it’s the very dark stuff, and definitely will add a flavor to whatever you use it in. It’s good in vinegarettes, for example. I wouldn’t use it for cooking, though, and even in vinegarettes I use it along with another oil, as it’s too strong to use as the only oil.

If you taste it plain, and it’s not especially strong, I’d go ahead and use it to cook with. But if it’s really dark & nutty, nope.

If it’s toasted it’s probably more like sesame oil. If it’s not then it’s just generic vegetable oil.

One would think that there’s a wider variety of flavors that pumpkin goes with, than olive?

Pumpkin + Pork = Yum
Pumpkin + Ice Cream = Yum

Olive + Pork = Yum
Olive + Ice Cream = Why god? Why?

You bought the WRONG OIL?! It’s the gallows for you!!

Exchange it (if you didn’t open it).

Is it extra virgin Pumpkin Seed Oil?

Olive oil gelato is fantastic.

Give it to someone with prostate concerns.

I’ve never heard of this, but it sounds great.

Make salad dressing with it.
