I Accuse What Exit of Being a Liar

“I’ll do it! I’ll do it! But I’m gonna hate myself in the morning…” - Mel Blanc

Has anyone else noticed that Brazil84’s posts make the most sense when you picture them being read aloud by Eddie Deezen…?

Warning! The following is an audio clipof Eddie Deezen.

I’ll give you that. You are certainly one of the most trying posters on the board.

That’s unfortunate, since I was enjoying our little chat about economics. And come on, you know I made a pretty good point about supply, demand, and price.

Actually a good chunk of the world is drunk, so to speak. At least that’s my impression, given the ridiculous ideas which seem to hold so much currency.

But look, when you can freely admit error, that’s when you will start to sober up. Not that I’m accusing you of self-deception, it’s just a general statement.

I’m sure you can find all kinds of differences, but the basic point is that when somebody jabs you repeatedly, it’s natural to react. To throw a “temper tantrum,” if you will.

No. I know you didn’t understand what was being said to you, and rather than try to understand it, you engaged in a series of metaphors, analogies, and hypotheticals that served to obscure the issue.

Daniel

Keep in mind, we’re talking about your debating style, not the issue of global warming. Try to keep up.

Also:

How can anyone read the above and think that by asking pdk88 to enumerate the criticisms that you are doing anything other than lying about not seeing them or simply weaseling?

This thread turned sad like the KGS thread.

Unfortunately, you are the one who doesn’t understand.

This statement strongly suggests you have a poor understanding of basic economic theory:

If an additional home owner puts his or her house on the market, it will (generally speaking) get sold provided the price is right. Even if the aggregate preferences of buyers do not change at all. And the fact that somebody buys the house doesn’t mean that that person’s personal demand curve has changed.

Anyway, here’s a suggestion: Bow out of the argument like you said, and go read up on basic economic theory. You will see that I am right.

Not everyone has made the exact same criticisms. For example, a few people commented on my tendency to “lol” but not everyone did, as I recall.

In any event, I’ve never denied that many people criticized me in this thread.

But pkd seems to be arguing that everyone is saying “X” about me and therefore X is probably true. Under those circumstances, I’m entitled to ask exactly what he means by X.

Okay, this proves to me you’re not equipped for a debate at even the most basic level, so I’m going to bow out too. It’s just gotten embarrassing to be a part of it.

That’s a good decision, and other posters doing the same is also good.

I can’t call the OP a troll, as he obviously actually believes that he is, in fact, kicking the ass of all who disagree with him.

He will, however, get bored with us if we quit arguing with him about his attempt to regain his foreskin, or the greatness of Englebert Humperdinck, and he will eventually go away if he is ignored.

Right.

I’ll stop posting right after you.

I still argue that someone who functionally acts as a troll, intentional or not, is a troll. If any reasonable person, regardless of whether they agreed or disagreed with brazil84 would find him to be either nuts or dishonest, then you’re not really suppressing information to boot him.

This is why I have so little respect for so many posters. I made a reasonable point, and instead of acknowledging it, you fling a face-saving piece of shit and climb back into your tree. Au revoirs.

I’m arguing and discussing solely because I enjoy it. (Contrary to earlier accusations, nobody pays me to post here.) I would hope that you argue and discuss stuff online for the same reason as me.

Let’s see.

As I.

Woo-woo. I didn’t know my name was being bandied about here. To set the record straight, let me just say that my conclusion regarding the discussion in the Jared Diamond thread is that Brazil84 completely misunderstood Diamond’s rhetorical trick in the portion quoted from the book. Diamond does not literally believe that New Guineans are genetically superior to Westerners. He’s pointing out that depending upon the standard for “superior” that you choose, you can come up with different answers.

In other words, “Everybody thinks Westerners are superior because we have the wheel, New York, wars and so on. Fine, I’m going to say that New Guineans are superior because they use their senses to survive in a hostile environment in a way that a Westerner never could.” Diamond’s point wasn’t that he really believed that New Guineans are “superior” but that superiority is not the proper venue for debate.

I hope that helps the discussion here.

Can someone explain to me the comments about astroturfing?

Astroturfing.

I know what astroturfing means. I was hoping for an explanation of the accusations of astroturfing in this thread.

Well, BrazilNut’s postings on Gw seem a bit too cohesive when compared to his non-GW postings (which are nowhere near as frequent), leading many folks to conclude that he’s being fed information for those GW responses. The only other conclusion that would fit with his posting style is that he has some kind of autism which causes him to focus on the topic of GW in such a manner. Now, I don’t know very much about autism, so I can’t say if his behavior matches that of anyone who falls into the spectrum, but it certainly seems possible, given what little I know. I do find that solution to be a bit unsatisfying, however.

Humans tend to reach out to other humans for understanding, and when they don’t get it, they move on to others. Given that the pickings for potential converts here are rather slim, and BrazilNut’s inability to make very cogent arguments at times, he’s unlikely to get any kind of positive feedback. So why stay here? There’s plenty of message boards out there where he could have his worldview not only accepted, but praised. Why not frequent those places and ignore this one? Maybe he’s got some kind of bizarre fixation here which compells him to post here or maybe he’s on the payroll of someone. I don’t know, but I’d suspect the latter is more likely than the former (especially since he apparently knows someone on the payroll of the oil companies).
