I would like to be addicted to escorts, but my wife persuades me otherwise. She explains that she has no concerns at all about STDs or my becoming emotionally dependent upon them. It’s that they would very likely become quite attached to me, both emotionally and physically, and that this would ruin their lives and careers. “Avoid it for THEIR sake.” I just nod and do what she says.
I haven’t been back to that thread, but I did want to tell you that you write very eloquently and reflect my views so well. I get too emotionally charged and just end up snarking. Thank you.
My wife and I rented a European version of the Escort during our honeymoon in England back in, um, 1985. It was a great car, but I understand little of that greatness was carried over to the American Escort.
And of course heaven forbid that there should be women out there that decide for themselves that they could make a good income by charging for sex. I was under the impression that their bodies were their own but clearly they belong to the puritan feminists.
But they’re someone’s daughter, which is clearly more important than being, y’know, someone in their own right.
Sex is complicated, and it’s not always a massively emotional thing for everyone. Sure, there are plenty of people with Problems involved, on both supply and demand sides, but I have no trouble believing in the existence of some women who simply decide it’s a good plan for themselves. Especially in countries where it’s legal, so they do have the option of legal backup if things go wrong.
I’ve certainly known sex phone workers and strippers who showed no signs of being messed up individuals, and it wouldn’t wholly surprise me if one of them did occasionally take the stripping further if she liked the look of a guy. I wouldn’t think any less of her either.
You’ve got a lot of nerve pointing fingers about delusions when you are parroting the misogynistic delusion that all sex workers are “damaged/traumatized/previously sexploited.”
The bracketed part is also totally false. The working girls I know have regular clients, and there definitely is an emotional connection between them and their regulars. One of the smartest working girls I know actually describes herself as a shrink who fucks her clients. She’s also the most successful, her client list has been full the entire time I have known her, and she’s already financially set with a plan to retire at 40.
For fuck’s sake. Of course, there are exceptions. The vast majority of women wouldn’t choose this if there were other options. The same to you, Crazy Canuck. Just because you know a few who like it (are you sure?) doesn’t mean all or most do. Studies show that many sex workers do so because they have no other viable socioeconomic options.
It’s interesting that it’s been all men who are defending this point of view.
Is this what you meant when you said you’d “I will be there, in the future, to point out your trollery?” Do you plan on continuing to follow me around and comparing me to unpopular board members with no context or content? If you are going to be my stalker, I am going to demand that you not be so boring and pathetic about it.
Well, they say they do, and in general I assume that when people tell me their thoughts about their life and personal experiences that they are telling the truth. The women who are telling me this are my friends, I’m not their client, and I can’t see a motive for them lying to me.
If you have studies showing my personal experiences are not the norm, please cite them.
Can’t see a motive for her to lie? How about she’s hoping to make you a customer, one day, or get an intro to a new customer through you?
This ranks right up there with pathetically believing that cute bartender likes you because she’s always smiling and sweet to you. And the homeless guy at the bus depot just needs two dollars more for bus fare. Men believe what suits their ego when it comes to this, I’m convinced.
Their ego needs the happy ho, college girl story. That’s why sex workers never stop telling it. They are paying for the illusion that she actually likes doing this with them.
It’s always about delusions and illusions in my opinion.
Um, what does any of that hijack have to do with crappy Ford products? I’m normally the last guy to complain about tangent off-going, but we were talking about cars.
