Seriously, how can reporting a post, (for whatever reason), which any mod can clearly choose to blow off, without comment or action, produce this level of scorn in someone in power?

And not because she got in wrong either, no because she got it right.
There would seem to be no indication that the other mods, who received this commentary, found it out of the usual, or worthy of push back, or cared to question the author, as to why a poster (picnurse? Really? picnurse!) should be spoken of, in such a fashion, for simply doing as is so often suggested.
I am left with the impression it never so much as raised an eyebrow. The note, the innocence of the named, the innocuousness of the offense, the inappropriateness of a moderator speaking of the users in this fashion, none of it. Disturbing.
If this is how they trash Picnurse, over something so innocuous, imagine what they say about the rest of us, when we’re really giving them heaps over something.:eek:

Well, turn the insult (or snideness) back upon the giver, and embrace the phrase. Apply for a user name change to Blind Pig!
That way, it’s a reminder to the mods every time they see the [new] user name!

I, however, am completely unsurprised that her comment is the sort of thing the mods are emailing between themselves. Protip: Don’t write it down if you won’t stand behind it.

That happened to a friend of mine, too. Except it was strawberries. And squirrels. She and her husband had been arguing for days because neither would admit to eating all the strawberries in their garden. They both had their eye on the last berry to ripen, a particularly big and scrummy-looking one, and there was a bit of a marital cold war going on. One morning, my friend looked out of the kitchen window and saw a squirrel clutching the last strawberry in its sweaty little hands (paws?). She almost had an apoplectic fit, and her husband thought she was hallucinating.

FWIW, I’ve always heard it said, “Even a blind hog finds an acorn every now and then.”
The saying is very useful IMHO, as it can be used in a number of different situations. 
I take less issue with the comment made and more with the false apology. That was just the typical kid caught with their hand in the cookie jar response. There is nothing intrinsically wrong with acknowledging that a particular poster has a high reporting rate with low success. You don’t have to apologize for what was said, just how it was said.
I believe I first saw it in an anthology of rejected adages, along with “a whipped dog eats its own shit” and “nobody likes a Mexican.”
I agree. If you’re going to call someone out by starting a sensational, attention getting thread like this one, you now owe it to Twickster to see it through and not leave her hanging.

The subject is closed as far as I am concerned. Twickster may or may not feel the same.
Then you should have handled it completely privately. Don’t air your laundry in public if you don’t want comments on the patterns.
I don’t know what there is to ask about. Obviously “handled privately” just means that Twickster sent picunurse an over-the-top apologetic private message. Do you guys really need to read the fucking thing for yourselves to make sure it’s apologetic enough or something?
I think what was meant was that you left Twickster hanging out to dry (ie, to look like a heel), rather than that you left her hanging to wonder what happened.
Isn’t publicly announcing to this thread that the issue is resolved enough to suggest that the issue is resolved? Maybe I’m just really good at drawing conclusions, but what exactly are you looking for?
Well, for a lot of people, there’s the unresolved issue of if Twickster is ready and willing to call picunurse of all people an idiot, what is she calling the rest of us?
And how the hell is picunurse’s resolution with twickster going to elaborate on/resolve that?
