He was whining about this earlier today in this ATMB thread. That thread was just closed (because he wouldn’t STFU after the mods told him to), so he’s moved his dog-and-pony show here.
He was topic banned after he kept trying to skirt the rules on the spoiler-free Game of Thrones threads. If I recall correctly the original dispute might have started when he dropped a spoiler from the books into a thread that allowed spoilers from episodes that had been aired up yo that point. Regardless, the real damage came with his behavior afterward.

Look, I didnt bring up my name in this thread. I agree, the Op’s in laws were wrong. Sure. I agree, whathisname was wrong for posting a spoiler in a non-spoiler thread.
Spoilers dont infuriate me, but I understand other’s ire about it. In fact, since I started posting here on the SDMB, I have even come to change my position on spoilers, seeing as too many jerks post them on purpose. Hell, we all make mistakes, and the casual careless mention is something not to get too riled up about.
But now I see there are just too many jerks. 
Still, I dont post spoilers, and have never posted one on this MB except in a thread where spoilers were specifically allowed.
So, if a poster calls me out in the middle of a thread and posts lies about me, sure- I’ll post a denial. Wouldn’t you?
I don’t have the interest to continually reconstruct those past events. What’s incontrovertibly true is that Dr. Deth was being a dick and he dialed up his dickery and kept it dialed up until he got slapped with a topic ban.
Nobody accidentally sits down at their computer, types a full sentence and hits “enter” by mistake. A person can accidentally let something slip while talking, but not while taking the time to type it out. That’s on purpose.

True. Hard to do accidentally on a computer, I agree. But I have seen posters forget which thread or forum they were in.
Before we could edit, I called someone a asshole, thinking we were in a related PIT thread. I apologized and reported my own post.
It isn’t just about having time. I specifically waited to see it because I wanted to see it with my brother while he was in town for the holidays. Then we waited an extra day to see it because we thought it’d be more enjoyable for my daughter if she saw the original Episodes IV - VI, first. It was a lot of fun for our family to wait and re-experience those movies and then see the new one without having much knowledge of it, just like we did with the very first movie.
I don’t see what’s so hard about understanding that people might be excited to see a new movie, but not also be ready to as soon as it comes out. In my opinion, everyone should unquestionably expect to keep quiet about major plot points while the movie is still in the theater unless they’re in a group that they know everyone has seen the movie.

I posted a single spoiler in a single thread where spoilers were allowed and encouraged, and in fact discussed. This is a normal and accepted practice in CS and in fact there’s a whole thread right now just choke full of spoilers about the new Star Wars film.
So, what you’re saying is that no spoilers can ever be posted anywhere, even if the OP and title make it clear it’s OK and expected?:dubious: Or that Snarky Kong must approve any spoilers first? :rolleyes:

Yes, I made a huge pest of myself in arguing about “special rules for special threads”. No doubt. But I rarely posted in those threads and never posted spoilers there.

I never go see a movie right away. That doesn’t mean I should expect that people will reveal plot points while it’s still on the theaters. And whether or not I’m a “fan” of that movie is irrelevant.

Of course it does.
Not in the sense that you will not find the movie enjoyable. But your enjoyment will surely be lessened. Part of the fun is the surprise in plot twists and reveals. There is an emotional component to it that only comes from being engaged in it. In murder mysteries, MOST of the fun is trying to play along and try to figure out whodunnit. If you know ahead of time, it will not be nearly as enjoyable.
Shit, for a good fraction of the movies out there that is MOST of the fun.
Fuck, if I knew what actually happened in a movie I wouldn’t shell out the money to see it in the theater in the first place.
As far as I am concerned Rigamoron owes me about 5 dollars give or take now.
