Are you really suggesting that in this scenario, Dude Two is the one in the wrong, because he’s choosing to be offended when Dude One hasn’t done anything improper?
This is the heart of politeness – when someone expresses that something causes them to be uncomfortable or upset, the polite thing to do if you’re going to continue to interact with them is to try to refrain from doing that thing, so long as its reasonable.
Asking that someone not use a slur or insulting language, and in fact suggesting that they consider the appropriateness of doing so altogether (not just in your presence) is not unreasonable.

While I generally agree that AA has some questionable features, the higher-power requirement is indeed religious and teaching powerlessness may not be the best way to cure alcoholism, and there’s still scholarly disagreement about whether it’s a “disease”…it’s not cool to constantly promote some personal crusade for/against something all over the boards and hijack a bunch of threads to support your crusade, like they say he’s been doing.
In fact, isn’t that the problem that started this very thread? Isn’t that the thing that drew the OP’s ire in the first place? People who take any opportunity to hijack a thread to promote their agenda?

I used that particular slur to try to move the topic away from the topic of weight, but take away the gay connection here, and replace Dude One’s questionable statements with:
“So I was walking down the street the other day and I saw these two huge heifer chicks…” and “Hey, look at that massive dude stuffing his face with the ice cream! What a porker!”
Or how about: “So I was walking down the street the other day and I saw some of them damned Muslims, those women wearing those stupid veils…” and “Hey, there’s another one, lookit, she looks like she’s wearing a bedsheet!”
