I have given it some thought and I have came to the conclusion that I am leaving this thread. I have only been here for a few minutes and I have gained some knowledge from it. But I feel that it is holding me back from doing mine own will in my life. I have tried to say something useful but to no avail. If this is not so well then aweosme stick with it. But I hear that still, small, voice inside saying to move on. (jokes …yea) I am a European. I am not sure what Berlusconi has for my life and I hope I figure it out soon because it is a hard place to be in when you do not know. I love each and every member of this board and I will pray for you all. Thank you for your time.
I don’t know what I’m meant to do in my life either. However, since I don’t believe in a deity, and don’t think I am actually “meant” to do anything, I don’t find this in the least bit problematic.
Good luck in your wanderings. Read “The Alchemist” by Paolo Coelho (I never have, but several people I know who have read it have suddenly found out what they want to do with themselves).
Perhaps, Nomadic One, the responses this thread tell you why you weren’t successful in converting people.
Once a mind has been opened, it’s kinda hard to shut it down again. Which is my guess at the meaning of your cryptic remark to Polycarp – apparently a thinking Christian isn’t Christian enough for you, he should close his mind down the way you have, too. Fat chance, I believe is the appropriate phrase – why do you think Polycarp is so respected here? Because he understands that other people have beliefs that differs from them but still treats them as intelligent human beings.
You might think about that one. In the meantime, good luck elsewhere. Methinks you’re gonna need it.
No, it isn’t, because he posted it on a message board to which more people than himself, Polycarp and God have access; of course I can’t compel him to answer me, but I’d really like to know what he thinks Poly is missing out on; I actually think it is important, because I might be missing out on it too.
Ya know, some of these parting comments are kinda cheap shots made at the back of this guy as he’s leaving the room. I find some of them a little disappointing.
And for anybody who thinks they have outstanding issues with him, his e-mail address is right up there.
UB, thing is (to me, at least), he left of his own accord, he can come back of his own accord. And he said that he was leaving because he wasn’t being successful converting people to his religion. If’ he’s going to go somewhere specifically to do that, then it should not come as a surprise to him when A) this is unsuccessful, B) it’s unwelcome, and C) it’s unkind.
Alternately, he could stick around, open a GD “Why am I unsuccessful in witnessing to you, doper?” thread and get some constructive criticism (probably along with some less than constructive, but anyone who comes here solely to witness is not going to get a warm reception) instead of packing it in after not a whole lot of posts. Hell, I’d barely started recognizing his SN and he’s already gone.
Nomadic_One, assuming you’re still here you might read dreamer’s GD thread here.
[sub]JFTR, UB, I’ve emailed him this as well. There’s the chance that he’s plumb left, and he might do well to see dreamer’s thread.[/sub]
