When I first saw that name, I thought OBJECTIVIST. The reason why I say this is because the name reminded me of Dagny Taggert of “Atlas Shrugged”.

Jodi, I apologize if I have offended you, I did not mean to. My point was simply that fiscal conservative is a meaningless phrase as used in politics today. You don’t hear anyone saying that they are a fiscal liberal, everybody mouths off about wanting balanced budgets, low taxes, etc.

If you read my posts, you will see that I am consistently on top of “moral clarity”, and satire and moral clarity are mutually exclusive (kinda like Republican atheists, no offense intended). I’m all for banning parody. Parody and sarcasm are the tools of liberals like Jonathan Swift, George Orwell and others who can’t compose a decent argument without using humor, which as many theorists have pointed out, is just mocking the pain of others. Parody and satire and sarcasm must be excised from the board. You never see Cecil Adams using these things, and it’s his board. . . .

I think the Pit is a wonderful place, and certainly the banning of parody and satire will bring orderliness and all that kinda stuff.

NO! If you had read my posts in the recent Ayn Rand is a loon threads you would have realized not.

taggert is misspelled, and it should be taggart. I am a big Slim Pickens fan and that was the name of his character in Blazing Saddles, and hence my recent signature “I work for Mel Brooks!” where he socks Dom DeLouise. And no, that doesn’t mean I am a satirist like Mel Brooks, anymore than say “december”'s screen name means that he is the twelfth month of the year or that Scylla is a bunch of rocks on which the unwary get dashed. It means that I have used the handle for a long while and I am very fond of it. (And Slim Pickens.)
