Aside from those who appreciate her comic value. Who’s buying her books without irony? If she were a man, I’d say the religious right. But does her being a woman (an unmarried woman!), one with a big city attitude who wears short skirts, trump her right-wing crazy talk for them?
I have a closeted gay Catholic friend who calls himself a “Reagan Democrat” (although I don’t think he’s voted for any Democrat for ANY Federal office in almost twenty years), and he likes her just for being willing to say whatever she wants. He likes that she’s a tall, kinda attractive woman who can mix it up with anyone. He doesn’t buy her books, though.
Funny you should mention that. There was a guy across from me on the plane yesterday reading an Ann Coulter book. I think the title was Treason. He looked basically human, although he could have stood to shave. He also had one of the Left Behind books with him (perhaps in case he finished the Coulter), so I tend to believe his interest in Coulter was unironic.

Btw, I’m not a big Ann C fan. More of a Laura Ingraham guy. Ann often makes me shake my head in an “oh God, why must she be one of us?” way. But to hear how she makes the other side squeal does make me smile.
I always thought most AC “fans” were people who watched her just to get pissed off.

I flipped through her latest book recently, which is basically just a collection of her quotes. I’m not what you would call a big fan of hers…she’s too rigid politically…but I have to admit, some of the quotes were really pretty funny. You have to take her a little bit tongue-in-cheek, and realize she exaggerates for effect.

No. Few secular liberals believe that extramarital sex should be mandatory, or necessarily encouraged.
See, I don’t think her fans generally believe that she is serious about taking voting rights away from women. That’s what I mean when I say that you have to realize that she is exaggerating for effect. Part of what makes it obvious that she is not serious about that is that she IS an uppity woman who is speaking her mind.
Now, now…she never said women shouldn’t have the right to vote. She said that if women didn’t have the right to vote, we’d never have another Democrat president.

I work with someone who is a fan of hers. He agrees with whatever she says, except when she goes over the line and says something really stupid or crazy. Then she’s “just joking” and offended liberals and moderates “can’t take a joke”. :rolleyes: Though he did agree with her comments recently about Jews needing to be “perfected” by Christians.
Oh, and am I the only one who doesn’t find her attractive at all? Blonde hair and a skinny body doesn’t automatically make you hot. Of course, even if I did find her attractive, it would only last until she opened her mouth.
