People do those things as an expression of their personality. Personally I wouldn’t get a tattoo or dye my hair green or orange because that’s not in line with my identity, and I suspect from your post neither would you for the same reason. 
If spongemom wants to color her posts purple, it’s an expression of who she is and I respect that.
