No big deal I suppose, but I’m proud and grateful.
I kinda got my crap together late in life. Several relocations, a divorce, almost died in a motorcycle accident.
thousands of dollars in debt 4 years ago, bad credit rating, all turned around. Paid off a lawyer, acredit card and Uncle Sam.
Learned financial discipline.
Almost makes me cry in gratitude to think that 20 years ago I was homeless living under a tree in Nevada.
God is good.
Life is good.
Now excuse me, I gotta go mow the grass.
Hey! Welcome to homeownership in Ohio!
I’m always happy to hear when people are able to pull themselves up out of financial ruin with hard work and discipline.
Yeah…the grass. That’s the thing that gets me the most… mostly because my yard is very weedy and the weeds grow faster than the grass. Bugger!
Congratulations, I’m only now starting on the horrid road to getting rid of my debt, four years will do for me too I think
Congratulations!
You didn’t get an interest-only home loan, did you? :smack:

Congratulations! There’s nothing in the world like the feeling of standing on your property and just kind of taking it in.
“That crown molding? Mine. The front flower bed? Mine. The kitchen island? Yeah, that’s mine.”
Enjoy it!
Congratulations! I bought mine a year and a half ago. Now go drop your paycheck at Lowes’.
Congratulations! That’s a very inspirational OP.
Yes that is **too **a big deal! Congratufreakinlations! Great OP, too.
Me and mr.emilyforce became homeowners with a 20-year fixed mortgage January 30, but have not been able to move until the end of May. Neither of us ever thought we’d ever be able to own a home - I’d just about decided to build a straw-bale one myself, or something. It is very very hard not to be surveying my new territory yet.
See that lilac bush? Mine! Well, if you *could *see it, I could tell you it was mine…

Hate to be a killjoy, but:
“Broken water heater? Mine.” :smack:
Still better than apartment living though.
This is a VERY big deal. Congrats!!! You da person, you da homeowner.
Congratulations. Wishing you luck and joy in your new home!
That’s excellent! And a very big deal!
Congratulations!

I enjoyed your story, BMalion, and have sent up a prayer asking that He smiles on you forever.
Thank you all!
I spent all weekend packing, in case the closing day gets moved up. As a good little doper I have 22 file boxes full of book, only one of DVD’s.
and about 100 LP’s.
4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, hardwood floors throughout (even in the kitchen!), fireplace, cedar shingle siding, new roof and leaded glass windows. Built in 1930.
Everything I did not dare to dream of.
actually, that was 26 years ago, dang, time sure does fly.
My point being, it’s never too late to change and don’t ever give up hope.
and don’t forget the sunscreen.

A rather impressive feat to be sure, but then you’d already demonstrated tremendous resolve when you’d found that tree in Nevada.
Good for you, BMalion . This is my feel good story for the month.
BMalion:
Nope, 30 year fixed.
That’s the way to do it. Congratulations. I have been a homeowner for almost a year now. I just own an apartment, though, so I don’t have any grass.
Well you’re just going to have to find your drugs on your own, hippie.

Sounds like a beautiful house. Do you have any photos?
