I had the day off Sunday, and I woke up rather early. I just had this feeling that I should go garage sale shopping, and not one to spit in the face of Fate, I went. After a few disappointing garage sales, I happened upon one in an alley while looking for another one nearby.
And I found the World’s Coolest Couch. Not only that, but that woman parted with it, after some haggling, for a mere $25.
I should take a picture to post, but don’t have a camera handy. I hope my description can do it justice. It is a 2-piece, L-shaped sectional. Each piece is approximately 6 feet long (so it can comfortably seat 6-8 people). The cushions are ivory with brown trim with a zig-zag stitch pattern for embellishment. It is a very low, long, and lean couch with simple wooden arms.
Picture this with wooden arms and legs, sans the chaise section in the foreground, and you have a rough approximation of the style of the couch.
Bragging aside, a question: as I was cleaning the couch (it’s leather [pleather?]) I noticed the “Do Not Remove Under Penalty of Law” tags, which were dated 1929 at the latest. Or, rather, the tags referenced certain statutes which were revised in 1926 and 1929.
How old can I reasonably assume this couch is? 30s? 40s? I had originally thought 60s but the date on the tags threw me off.
