I am seeeeeeriously tempted! (HP iPAQ H2210 Pocket PC) Anyone got one?

HP iPAQ H2210 Pocket PC

I don’t need one, but I neeeed one! I am a typical bloke, i.e. lover of gadgets and grown up toys.

Has anyone got one? Can you convince me either way?

It weighs 300 POUNDS!

How is that going to fit in your pocket?

!!!IMO!!!
Blue tooth is crap, the Ipaq is overpriced.

Please allow me to humbly suggest the Dell X5 (I did a lot of searching before I got mine), it is only 32 meg built in but memory is cheap (I run a 256 meg SD and a 256 meg CF card).

at least look at it

I love my IPaq of a year ago. It’s a bit slower than 400mhz, and doesn’t have bluetooth, but otherwise seems to be the same featurewise. IPaq is a bit pricy, but I really love it.

unclviny I did have a look, and it looks cool (I’ll have a more detailed look if I can find a place to buy it from that won’t sell it at a huge markup like the local shops. Amazon doesn’t have it. I’ll have a look at dell’s website)

I can’t see myself using bluetooth. The price is a bit high, I agree.

I have some questions for owners of these devices, specifically those with Windows PocketPC 2003 on them. To save starting yet another thread I’ll bump this one.

Does handwriting recognition come as standard? (if so, can it be done in MS word or is it a seperate app?)

Is the OS stored on the removable media or it is internal?

In the media player, if you pick full screen (assuming you can) does the picture flip 90degrees? (thus taking advantage of the fact that the pda is portrait, and most media is landscape)

Thanks. I may have more questions as I think of them.

I have the older Journada 568.

I love it (I got it for cash from a friend at half price). Plays my MP3s, I have several games on it (scrabble, ultima underworld etc) and I keep my contacts on it plus all sorts of secured information.

Handwriting is standard on mine. The OS is onboard (64 megs like that one) with battery back up and a 256 CF card keeps my MP3s. No blue tooth on mine.

Media player doesn’t go into “full screen” mode (I haven’t tried a movie though) but ultima underworld does go sideways to better fit the game.

Lobsang,
On my AXIM (basic, there is no reason to pay for the 400 mhz upgrade).
Yes, the grafitti thing is included but I prefer the built in keyboard (it’s faster for me).
The OS is in the internal memory.
Yes the picture rotates (MP 9).

It runs Windows? ::rotflmao::

I’m falling in love with my Xda II. It’s not the worlds best pda and it ain’t the worlds greatest phone, but its a pretty dang good combination.

Slight hijack here but following Lobsang’s link the HP iPAQ H2210 Pocket PC costs £299.99 on Amazon UK. That is around $518 according to the mid-market rates on http://www.xe.com. It also takes 1-2 weeks to ship/dispatch.

On Amazon US it is only $389.49 and ships within 24 hours.

Why is there such a price difference? Is the extra $128 UK taxes and import duties? And why is there such a difference in the amount of time it takes to ship?

It’s not called Rip-off britain for nothing. Electrical goods tend to be roughly 50% more expensive in Britain than in America.

Most Amazon.co.uk goods have a within 24 hours delivery estimate, and as a regular user I can vouch for it being accurate. But many items say 1-2 weeks probably because they don’t have them in stock themselves.

My partner has one.
He uses a small Bluetooth GPS device with it, which is very useful when out walking - especially in combination with Memory Map Ordnance Survey maps.
I can’t recall where he bought it from. I’ll ask him.
