I am so proud, I have to tell everyone!!!

I just recently, after a 25 year hiatus, started back actively training in Moo Duk Kwan Tang Soo Do Karate, A Korean Martial Arts style. I was 7 when I first started and made my 1st Dan (Black Belt) at age 10. My oldest son, D-2, is 7 years old and is just starting out in this style and is training with me.

[Proud Father]
I would like to formally announce to everyone here:
This past Monday, in my old Karate uniform, D-2 passed his first testing to 8th Gup, which is 1st deg Purple belt in TSD. I am so proud, and so is D-2. I hope it is the beginning of a long and wonderful journey for him and I hope he gets everything out of it that I did when I was his age.

I am just so incredibly tickled by this!

Good for him. Congratulations.

How is TSD same/different from Tae Kwon Do?

Here is a link for the history of the two Korean styles and it explains why they are separate:

Congrats!

Here’s wishing you both many more succesful belt promotions (and drug stores well-stocked with Tiger Balm, Ace bandages, and ibuprofen!)

though I must argue that TKD is far superior to TSD… d&r

Wonderful!!!

Congrats! I hope you’ve taught D-2 the part about, “The enlightened student does not go around thumping the neighbor kids just for grins.” Walk in peace, grasshopper.

Good for him!

Cool. So he can kick my ass now?

When does he have to take the pebble from your hand?

Congrats, but be CAREFUL!!! If tv has taught us anything, it’s that when the son surpasses his father he Kills him!

They couldn’t come up with a shorter name?

Congratulations to you and your boy!

Did he snatch the pebble from the old blind guy’s hand, or does that come later?
