Um, and if I don’t put them in the same case, am I going to get arrested by the grammar police? No, I’m just going to sound normal, and to most people it will pass by unnoticed. You say ‘have to’ like it’s somehow enforced. Which it, uh, isn’t.
Of course using ‘I’ is considered more educated and prestigious in our society, and it would certainly be reasonable to suggest that ‘me’ be changed to ‘I’ in formal writing. But ultimately, these rules are arbitrary.
In this particular case, I’ve had this rule explained to me a zillion times so I understand how it works. But I always want to see this sentence as subject verb object: He is taller than me. I think that’s where most people are coming from when they use the objective case for ‘me’, since this is the common construction for sentences of English.
BTW, this thread is #341 in the list of reasons why you’ll never be cool. You’re smart, creative, and have a lot to offer; you just seem to be lacking initiative to get out and do stuff.
If you can only brush your teeth once per day, do it in the morning right after you wake up. Maybe gargle some mouthwash, too. Carry around a pack of winterfresh gum to pop in after lunch and dinner. Maybe consider Altoids or something stronger if necessary. I’m not totally familiar with your hygene practices, but you should also shower every morning. Next time you’re going to a party, put on some decent clothes, have your gum/mints ready and comb your hair. As an old coach of mine once said, (please ignore the grammar) “you look good you feel good, you feel good you play good.”
If the girls you want to date don’t like your jokes or movie references, then you are looking to date the wrong kind of girl. There are geeky girls out there who watch a lot of movies and make jokes themselves. These are the girls you should be considering dating.
And get out of your dorm room to meet people. It’s a heck of a lot easier to meet people and make friends while you’re still in college than it is once you leave school.
I do deodorant everyday even if I don’t shower, although I do shower nearly everyday
everyone says go outside and meet people but I am scared of meeting new people I am not capable of having normal conversations and not everyone wants to hear about Jurassic Park.
I mean I know I said in my topic title I am lonely but really I am happy with how many friends I have. I just am needy and feel sad when I am not with them 24/7 forgetting everything else we do. Like when I complained about not going to Harry Potter but we did a lot of other stuff together and I never expressed interest in Harry Potter anyway.
Because you rarely come back to threads you start, it’s rude. Seeing as often you’ve come back to this one I’d say ‘sober’ is your best bet while posting here.
