I don’t want anybody to be at all misled by my posts in this thread. I therefore wish to clarify one thing in particular.
I do, in fact, tar entire cultures with the same brush after forming an opinion of a single individual.
This is how I know, for example, that all Mexicans are radiologists who drive BMWs, and all Dutch guys ride motorcycles, drive Renault station wagons, and have massively hot girlfriends living in California.
Also, all posters on the SDMB take things far too seriously, as evidenced by the replies in this thread.

Y’know, I don’t get Americans (those United Statesians, I mean). They’ve got this great big country there, all those people, that big economy, they invented almosy all of the great styles of music from the last century, they’ve kicked the arse of pretty much every country they could get their hands on, and there’s people like Exgineer and that still feel they’ve got to shit on people like Canadians.
It’s a bit like the big football hero on campus picking on all the dweebs. You start thinking, wait is he [shrek]trying to compensate for something?[/shrek]
Then again, I’m impressed that an American like Exgineer has learnt that other countries exist. If he keeps that up, he might even be able to one day locate Canada on a map. Kudos to you, Exxy!

They happen to be black, but that has nothing to do with why I think they suck. That should have been obvious, geez. Out here in the Rest Of The World [sup]TM[/sup], we have a stereotype known as the “Ugly American.” He’s loud, obnoxious, arrogant, ignorant, prone to fits of uncontrolled anger, carries a gun at all times, and presumes to know everything about everyone. Exgineer, you are not helping to dispell this stereotype. And no, “I was only kidding” is not a good enough excuse.
There are probably hundreds of ‘slam the US’ threads on this message board, and more than a few Canadians (not necessarily on this board) make a sport of US-bashing!

I still think French-Canadians who spend winters in Florida are arogant and rude, but maybe it’s because they are out of their element. The ones I dealt with when I traveled in Canada were all very nice people. Maybe the nice ones kick the bad ones out of Canada at certain times of the year.
