Ok. So for those of you that don’t wander to the pit often, I posted a rant about my son’s father not paying child support. This just means no throw-away income for the little Nutmeg and I this month, after my budget is adhered to. I don’t think I made it clear, though, that we aren’t wanting for anything.
This morning I checked my hotmail address, and there was an e-mail from a fellow Doper. One who I have conversed with through email a few times. No romantic anything going on, just e-mail buddies like we all have.
I will not name him here, because I want his permission before I do.
He offered to send me money to help out. He works for a living, doesn’t have a trust fund, doesn’t have a ready supply of cash at hand, isn’t rolling in the dough. In short, just a normal dude like the rest of us. A normal dude with a larger than average heart.
I just want to say to you, thank you. I can not believe the generous nature that you have displayed. I hope that my son grows up with the same caring nature that you have shown to me.

The environment of love and trust here is very special. i’m glad that you’re included Ginger. And I’m glad your friend is fantastic. Fantastic people rock.
That really IS wonderful, Ginger! And you know, couldn’t have happened to a nicer lady. See, it just shows to go ya. If you’re a nice person on here, people will be niec back. Imagine if your rant was illogical and nasty - you might have gathered zero sympathy, no matter how right or suffering you were. But because your personality lends itself to others being nice to you, you get philanthropy thrown your way. Good!!
One more thought. There are thousands of active posters on this board. There are thousands of different people on this board, from all parts of the globe, from all income levels, all marital stata, from broken homes and mansions, important offices of employment and the lowest men on the totem pole. But no matter how different any of us is from another on here, there will ALWAYS be someone who has been through what you’re going through - or, failing that, one who can understand your plight as if it has happened to them. That, my friends, is the hallmark of altruism. This is a kind, gifted, place.
Ginger … you have no idea how generous the Dopers can be. Read this and then this. These people are the finest, most generous group of people you could have ever had the good luck to trip across.
Having been through my own recent financial difficulty, two very special Dopers (likewise I will not name names) sent me money. I know that both of these folks don’t have a lot to share, either, but they did it anyway. And a couple of others offered, if I needed it.
Betty, I know you haven’t been here long, but now I think you’re getting a really big clue as to how this place is WAY more than a message board. The people behind the posts are real, living, flesh-and-blood humans, with hearts and souls as big as all outdoors. A finer bunch of people simply can’t be found anywhere.
