Lucky,
That was funny truly…I meant figurative. I do not type well at all…and I did laugh out loud…
Hard core,
Thanks for welcome back. I saw your wife. She is beautiful. I wish you all the happiness.
Andros,
Do you always judge the book by it cover.
Cause I dont. The person on the message board named Satan… I am almost sure is not evil…
The words are pretty. It is valentines day.
And I choose to Love more than point out all the bad.
RTF,
If something follows a pattern like, I assume that the earths rotation is, why could’nt u start with today and just go back. I can start from one point and trace it back from where it started from. I am asking not being sarcastic.
well, if the man is dansir you may have a point.
As several others have pointed out, nothing in the world stops you from programming a computer to simulate the positions of astronomical bodies at various points in time, eother before or after the present. If you have ever been to an observatory you have most likely seen exactly such a simulation. What you cannot do is find a discrepancy between what that simulation shows and the actual position of stars, planets, etc. unless you have extremely detailed observations from the time which you are simulating. Let me say that again. You cannot find a “missing day” without having astronomical maps from the pst that are extraordinarily detailed not only in their observations of heavenly bodies but also in recording the dates on which each observation was made. Those maps from the past do not exist. For that reason, along with many others, the story is an obvious fabrication. It is a lie. People who know that the story is false yet spread it as if it contained truth are liars.

dansir - what Spiritus said. You can work back and see where the stars ought to have been, but without a record of where they actually were at a particular date and time - which we lack - there’s no way to recognize a discrepancy.
andros - ::deep breath:: Ahhh, much better, thanks.
Dansir,
I know you were responding to me, not Slythe, Satan, or RTFirefly. However, I cannot add anything to their responses. They have handled this exactly the way I would have.
The original story you posted is a flat out fabrication, along the lines of The Arabian Nights, The Easter Bunny and A Night At The Opera. The really problematic thing with the bogus NASA story is that it purports to prove a Biblical miracle, and for that reason should not only be disbelieved but excoriated, discredited and dumped into the Marianus Trench for all eternity.
If you don’t need such stories to prove or bolster your faith in God, then LET IT GO. Perpetuating such a falsehood, even with the disclaimer of “this may not be true, I dunno” is akin to hawking pieces of the One True Cross along the Pilgrim Trail. It is the odious spreading of lies, and you would be doing a disservice to your faith and to those credulous enough to believe such a story. You would do well to forget about it, accept it as some kind of “Christian Fairy Tale” and hope it dies the death it deserves.
I am glad you have your faith; I don’t question that. I am merely concerned that you attach something as patently false as this to the rest of your solid evidence for your faith.

Night at the Opera is a fabrication??
Why, I’d horsewhip you if I had a horse!
Lucky,
It would be truly a miracle if a suddenly turned into a man…laughing…
You did get me to thinking about it more.
But then RTF says ‘you could see where they ought to be’
Is that not what this story says. I mean they were not were they should have been.
However to make all your minds at ease, I know without a doubt that it could have been a computer glich or human error. But if Mr. Hill told me this story, I could not call him a liar. Do yall understand that at all…
I meant if I turn into a man …sorry typo.
No, I’m afraid not. (Here, Rufus, take some aspirin. My turn to beat my head on the wall.)
The story’s postulate is this:
The computer was set up to backtrack planetary movements from this year all the way back to whenever. The backtrack should have taken them to point A, but instead took them to point B, and by being at point B, caused confusion.
Except that no one has any clue what point A was supposed to be. There is no way to know that the simluation took the planets back to point B instead, because no one knew where the planets were supposed to end up.
Analogy: I shuffle a deck of cards, then deal out one. You flip that card over, and it turns out to be the Ace of Hearts. You then say, “Wait! The was supposed to be the Ace of Spades!” See the lack of logic? You couldn’t have known what card was ‘supposed’ to come up.
As for not calling Mr. Hill a liar- I can’t understand that at all. Would you call televangelists who claim to heal people’s cancers for a donation of $100 liars? Or would you say that because they’re talking about the Word, whatever they say is acceptable to you?
Mr. Hill is a liar. Mr. Hill may be lying in order to further the Word of the Lord, but that makes him no less of a liar. Or do you feel that the ends outweigh the means?
JMCJ
This is not a sig.
John,
Understood…So they have now way to estimate or guess where the stars, ect. should have been… I do not know much about this topic and thought they could…Do you suppose Mr. Hill might have seen an experiment of some sort and perceived his story to be true?
IF he lied no I do not see the means justifing anything. God would not wany anyone to lie in order to convince them and neither would I.
I do not watch tv evanglist. No one has to pay for a miracle or a healing from God.
dansir-
No problem.
As for Mr. Hill seeing a similar experiment and extrapolating; I have to say that in my opinion, the data being discussed and the specific examples he used make it hard to remove any one portion of the story without making the rest of the story (that much more) far-fetched.
Though I do suppose he could have gotten it confused with the time that the space shuttle took pictures of Noah’s Ark sitting on top of Mt. Arafat. (insert evil grin here).

This is not a sig.
Why, that’s defamation, RTF! If I were you I’d get a lawyer! I know just the one–a Mister Hungadunga . . .
ok sorry to waste all your time…never said, ‘I was not naive’.
hmmm so the space shuttle didnt take pictures of Noahs Ark…laughing …I have never heard that one.
I do hate to call people liars. Sometimes what one person percieves to be true is not to another. But sometimes people just lie for the attention sadly.

I was, of course, using “man” as the gender neutral english pronoun in the same sense that you did when you said, “man and machine . . . .”
[sub]yeah – that’s the tiscket. I knew you were a gender neutral all along.[/sub]

Shut your fucking face, uncle fucka!
You’re the one that fucked your uncle, uncle fucka!
You don’t eat or sleep or mow the lawn,
You just fuck your uncle all day long!
Y’know, that’s the best movie musical ever, IMO.
Anyway…to compare and find a discrepancy, you have to have two things to compare. Let’s call them A and B. If you don’t have two things, there’s no comparison, hence no discrepancy.
In this case, one of them (A) is where the computer model said the stars ought to be at some date and time prior to Josh-boy making the sun stand still. So far, so hoopy.
The other (B) is an actual, on-the-spot measurement, at a particular date and time, of where the stars actually were, way back then. That’s what we haven’t had, don’t have, and probably never will have.
Without (B), all we can do is compare (A) to itself. Guess what: A = A. No discrepancy. Hill is a liar.
Step one, 'stead of ‘ass’, say ‘buns’,
like ‘kiss my buns’ or ‘you’re a buns-hole’…
I think South Park works better than aspirin!
Heck, I’m still awaiting “evidence” on why these supposed NASA scientists thought a day was exactly 24 hours. Any takers?
I’ll probably regret this but since you haven’t perused the board that much, apparently, here’s an interesting link:

Please see the postings by the now banned bigot & liar formerly known as NewtonsApple.
That would be the impression I got from both link I just provided and the OP. Sad, isn’t it?
Monty,
I am not sure how to take your reply. Are you saying I lied…Are what that the information I posted is a lie.
As far as the Ark goes. I have never heard that a satellite spotted it but I do have some information about it being seen. If you want I will post it.
Well, of course it’s not exactly 24 hours now. But before the speed of light started to slow down, and right after Venus got displaced from that other orbit…
dansir: I don’t think anybody is saying that you are a liar. Yet. I guess what we’re trying to do is to help you by convincing you not to spread this story in the future. If you spread the story even after it has been shown to be untrue, you become a liar. Even if Hill is deluded, and therefore arguably not lying himself, people who spread the story do lie if they know it to be untrue. Which you now do.
Oh, and the whole Noah’s Ark sighting is also fiction. But that’s another thread.

I read some of the thread that Monty posted. But I cant stand the name calling. Just because someone does not agree with you is no reason to attack ones character. I do not think Newton showed a christian spirit at all. I believe my biggest witness to people is how I live and treat others.
I have faith which means I believe without seeing. So when I read stories like this, I think so I already knew that happened. I do understand that Mr. Hill most likely lied but I know that God did all that he said he did. NOW…THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION WILL BE A DIRECT QUOTES…FROM THE BOOK EVOLUTION.
They all are from different sources such as the HISTORY OF BABYLONIA, JOSEPHUS, THE BOOK OF MARCO POLO.
I am posting them but they have nothing to do with my faith at all and if they are lies I did not make them up. It matters to me not if they are true but if you care to share opposing opinions that will be great.
But of this ship that grounded in Armenia some part still remains in the mountains of the Gordyaeans in Armenia, and some still get pitch from the ship by scraping it off and use it for amulets.
Monobazus sent for his son and bestowed on him the country called Carrae…where in the remains of the ark laid. Noah escaped the deluge, and where they are still shewn to such as are desirous to see them.
Do not the mountains of Armenia testify to it, where the ark rested? And are not the remains of the ark preserved there to this very day for admonition.
There are a few more but I dont know where they orginated. They are just paraphrased in the book Evolution by Carolynn Wilde…
