I am taking a shower. I am not taking you to the vet.

Two of our cats like to jump onto our shoulder the minute either my wife or I leave the confines of the shower. They have learned to not use their claws when they land on the shoulder and we have learned to have a towel there just in case.

The male just snuggles, but the female insists on assisting on helping dry our hair with her tongue.

They don’t both jump on the same person, whichever cat takes comand of the bathroom apparently has the right of first jump.

When, not if, Dagny over shoots the shower door I won’t have her de-clawed. I will just hope that she never tries it again and tend to the claw marks. De-clawing cats IMHO is just icky. If de-clawing was painless and simple I would have already had it done.

Though I still hate the thought of Dagny flying over the shower door through the water and landing on me with claws extended. Who knows, maybe she’ll miss me.

Slee

Shadow would jump into the bath with the kids. But long ago, no one around that takes baths anymore. Another reason Shadow is The Cat that Thinks She’s a Dog.

See, I have this door between my bathroom and the rest of the apartment…

Obviously, you don’t have animals that can open the door.

I forgot to mention, when my wife takes a bubble bath one of our cats will come in and start crying until he is given a drink of the tasty stuff one handful at a time. I never thought of the little umbrellas for his drink, but probably it’s appropriate. Of course, this is the same cat that will cry repeatedly until given his share of the cantaloupe we’re having for supper.

A Ted Nugent song comes to mind…

I’ve had several cats over the years that love to sit in the sink.

There are 20+lb main coons, so they FILL the sink. But they only like to sit there when the tap is running/dripping.

It is pretty funny to see this huge cat contort himself to get his body out from under the faucet.

Those of you who have cats who only drink fresh water, have you heard of kitty fountains? It’ll save your water bill. The water runs through a carbon filter, so the water is actually quite clean as long as you keep the main bowl clean. I have the extension jar on mine, so it holds 12 cups of water, enough for about a week for two cats. I have one cat who only drinks from the running fountain and one who never does (drinks from the main bowl).

sleestak, I’m pretty sure Rysdad was just being facetious.

Ah, well. At our house, Punkin is mostly indifferent to the bathroom, but occasionally drinks from the tap. Trouble insists on having the water on at a slow drip so he can drink. Molly, however, is the major issue with bathing with cats in the room. She will launch herself on me after I bath, climb up on my back if I bend over, or sit on my shoulders while I’m standing. She snuggles up, purrs, and drools. I’ve started locking her out before I bathe. It’s cute, but counter-productive to bathe, then be covered in cat-hair and drool.

Worried kitty face is the cutest. Their eyes get all flat on top.

My cats don’t like the tub, but my oldest cat loves it if I go to bed w/ just towel-dried hair. She starts purring, jumps up on the pillow and lies on my wet hair. She’ll rub her face in it too, then, see, she’s all wet, so she has to lie there and lick herself and ends up taking a kitty bath on my pillow. I’d think she was drying herself off, but she does it while still lying on my damp hair. So she’s just bizarre.

Then again it might just be a hair thing. A friend of mine had a buzz cut for a while that fascinated her, she would jump up on the couch and lick it until he made her quit because it gave him the heebie jeebies.

The Big Kitty likes to sleep in the sink, and he’s also very fond of the tub. He doesn’t get IN the tub (yet - I fully expect that one day he’ll give it a whirl, not realizing what he’s getting into), but he perches in various places around it, bats at my suds, and what have you. Since we have glass block windows next to it, it’s become his warm and sunny place to sleep.

He has attempted to follow me into the shower, and acts all huffy when I close the door to keep him out.

Our Golden Retriever likes to put his toys in water. Particularly my tub, while I’m in it. Since we moved, I no longer have a way to prevent this other than saying “No!”

I’ve got a couple of tub-lickers, too.
Both of mine like to get in the tub after someone showers and lick at the spout and play in the the puddles.

My kitten Nicky likes to sit on the edge while my son takes a bath and bravely lets the tip of his tail dangle in the water.

Quite often while I’m in the shower, I’ll look down, and he’s on the edge of the tub, between the clear liner and the regular curtain. He just sits there watching me, and batting at the drops of water running down the liner. He’s clawed the hell out of several liners so far. :stuck_out_tongue:

I do. But somehow, the lock on the bathroom door keeps them out  Doors are wonderful for keeping them out of bedrooms too, and if the policy is “no cats in the room” from the time they’re kittens, they mostly go along with it.

The OP reminds me of one of our cats. Halfy likes to annoy my mother by sticking his nose under her door and yowling to her when she sleeps past her alarm; presumably so she knows he and the other two brats want to be fed. I never saw him try that at any other door until last week. The hallway light was on while I was using the bathroom, and I noticed a shadow suddenly blocking some of the light coming in from under the door. (the doors are set about 3" above the floor for some reason, btw) At first I wondered if there was going to be a knock on the door followed by my brother demanding I get out soon, but then I looked at the bottom of the door. A little pink nose and two worried little eyes were peering in at me. Ok, so maybe the nose wasn’t peering, but you know what I mean. Great now the cats spy on me from the other side of the door while I’m in the bathroom . :stuck_out_tongue:

Missy the malamute just ho-hums and plops herself down right in front of the closed door, just in case if you didn’t know where she went…or need a nice fluffy breathing bath mat

Ember, OTOH, will nose her way in if you don’t close the door all the way (it’s a tiny bathroom, no real ventilation to speak of)…first time she did that, I was getting undressed…

…and how does one explain about feeling embarrassed about a baby girl dog staring up at you?

Oreo waits for us to come out, he will just sit on the mat and wait. When you are done, he inspects the shower. Now tell me where he picked that up from!

My bathroom is at the end of an itsy bitsy hallway that branches off from the slightly less itsy bitsy hall that connects the bedroom and living room. When I’m getting ready for work, Marlin the Cat will position himself at the intersection of the hallways, so I can only see his head from the eyes up, and watch me. Cutest damn thing ever, though I’m not sure if he thinks he’s being stealthful or what.

I live by myself, and like kiz’s my little bathroom isn’t very airy so I leave the door open most of the time. I’ve been told by friends who have kittysat for me that Marlin gets VERY annoyed if they go in the bathroom and close the door, for any reason.

Lately he’s been playing in the tub. With what, I have no idea, but it seems important to him!

Max has never been allowed in the bathroom due to the unfortunate hole-in-the-wall my landlord won’t repair, so he simply opts for the attack once I emerge from the bathroom–a tremendous vertical leap up the side of the doorframe, digging his claws in on the way down.

My mom’s kitty loves having a ball to bat around in the tub, as it bounces off the sides so nicely.

Before our Maltese died, he would come into the bathroom and lick up the puddles left over. He would look at you so pitifully if there weren’t any puddles on the edge of the tub that you just had to put some there to make him happy.

My cat, on the other hand, doesn’t like water at all, but she’s terribly curious about the shower. If she’s in the bathroom, she’ll meow at the curtain until you open it…and then she’ll see the evil spray and back away. A dry shower is okay, though…once she got in just as I turned the water on. A wet cat is not a happy cat. She glared at me all indignantly for the rest of the day. Silly cat.

The Pippin refuses to dring out of anything except a dripping tub–so his head is always wet, forcing people to ask me “what’s wrong with your cat?” Of course, I answer…“who knows?”
He also waits on the edge of the tub for me to finish showering…usually. He’s an odd one, and comes to me when I whistle (he prefers Beethoven’s 9th), so if I whistle when I’m in the shower, he’ll join me. Cats is da strrrrangest peoples.
