He’s such a square in real life that he used to teach Sunday school. I think even while he was the host of The Colbert Report. I don’t think he still does, though.
That’s my assumption as well.
“When someone shows you who they are, believe them.”

OK, I have no idea what you mean by that.
That said, though, did anyone else watch the live special Stephen Colbert hosted on the Showtime cable channel the night of the 2016 presidential election? At the beginning, it was clear that Colbert, his guests and the audience expected to see an easy victory by Hillary Clinton, but as the program went on, they (and we the viewing audience) gradually adjusted to the idea that Trump won. It was really interesting to watch.
The last ten minutes or so are available on YouTube.
To be Catho-pedantic, he taught CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine), which while being the Roman Catholic equivalent of Sunday School is not usually taught on Sunday. Here endeth the lesson.
If someone says they are drinking heavily, you ought to consider the possibility that they are drinking heavily. Further, I would think about what constitutes “a cry for help.”
Please forgive me if I was unclear.
I’m sure they were referring to my post about Fallon. He doesn’t seem to miss many chances to have a drinking game/bar trick/“the guest’s favourite beer” on the show.
There was a movie star/singer/TV star named Dean Martin who had a reputation as a ladies man, joked a lot about drinking during his shows, and usually had a “cocktail” and a cigarette in his hand. In reality, he wasn’t a heavy drinker. (He did smoke.) His daughter said:
Ms. Angelou was talking about people in real life, not stage personae. Hope this helps.
Thank you. I think it is quite important to be sensitive to those who might have problems. Others of course find a reason not to listen.
Colbert isn’t a heavy drinker. It’s a schtick. I’m pretty sure Fallon’s coked out of his effing mind or he tries way too hard. I can’t stand his show. Jimmy Kimmel is alright. I don’t like Conan. It’s the color of his hair.
It’s Stephen, not Steven. From what I’ve seen the references to drinking are related to dealing with Trump.
So OP, do you believe that Colbert was a hardcore conservative from 2005 to 2015? It’s an act. Talk show or not, he’s an actor playing a role.
He was a hardcore conservative back then. It was only by worrying about him on a message board that we were able to show him the error of his ways and convert him to the progressive he is today.
Was there a Matter of Record thread about his conservatism?
“A Cry For Help” is the name of a drink I helped create/popularize. You take a bottle of Lipton Diet Green Tea with Citrus. Open the bottle and drink 1/4-1/3 of it. Replace what you drank with an equal volume of vodka. Cap and store in freezer. I’ve consumed this drink while standing next to a cop at a concert. Nobody suspects diet green tea with citrus of shenanigans.
From what I’ve heard, it is “Steven” spelled with a “ph”. I believe his name is “Phteven”
Fuck, that sounds good, I’m gonna have to try that. Minus the diet part. Diet tea tastes like ass.
Fallon has been drunk in public at least a few times and sustained some injuries in “falls” and things that many people assume were alcohol related.
FWIW, at the recent Met Fashion Gala there were reports that a “late night talk show host” was drunk and made a fool of himself.
Many people assumed it was Colbert, not Fallon. Turns out it was apparently Corden.
If your name comes to mind first when someone mentions a drunk, late night talk show host, it is not good.
Unless that’s your shtick and you want people thinking along those lines.
This thread is the first time I’ve heard anyone say Colbert might have a drinking problem.
