I just went in for my annual MRA to check on the small aneurysms in my head and they discovered a very tiny silent stroke had occurred in the past few weeks. By tiny, I mean it occurred way out on a very tiny twig on the giant tree that is your brain. I was startled by the news, of course, but apparently this is a very common thing and most people don’t ever know they’ve had one unless they, like me, happen to have an MRA/MRI done.
So now I’ve got to have a full-blown MRI (with contrast) for my carotid arteries, an echocardiogram and wear a Zio patch (the new version of a Holter monitor) to find out where the clot may have come from. My next month is going to be busy, as I’ve also got my annual GP checkup, an eye exam, and a dental cleaning.
I guess I won’t know how concerned I should be until all the tests are done. Crap.
Well, this all pretty much sucks. I’ll be expecting reports and they had better be damn good news, mister. Seriously, sorry you are dealing with all of this and all at once. Take care and keep us posted.
Yeah, I’m taking the aspirin, and my BP is normal, as is my glucose and cholesterol, thanks to the miracles of modern drugs. The neuro was surprised that my BP was 118/60.
I’m glad you’re keeping on top of this health stuff, even though as you point out, it sucks. Please keep us posted and do bitch as needed. Sending good thoughts your way.
I hope it’s good news from here on out! The YAG laser on the IOL’s is nothing. Seriously. It takes about 5 minutes. They put in a numbing drop, then it’s “Rest your chin. Look straight ahead. Don’t blink.” And done. Minimal discomfort afterward, and no restrictions on activity. You’ll probably see better, too.
