I call bullshit on John McCain's purely political "suspension" tactic.

But don’t you see? McCain will take the podium, with all of Congress, the President, and untold millions of TV-watching citizens breathlessly attending to his every golden word as he lays out the plan that will Save America[sup]tm[/sup] from the evil clutches of the greedy fat cats. The country will rise as one to proclaim him a Great Leader[sup]tm[/sup], Obama will bow to his brilliance and withdraw from the race, and McCain will ascend by acclamation to the Presidency.

I hear he’s got a new campaign manager: Walter Mitty.

“Aah aah ahh. Oh, my knees! Could somebody help me, please? I’ve fallen, and I can’t get up!”

That’s the sound of McCain jumping the shark.

When they do McCain’s movie, the role simply must go to Grandpa Simpson.

Yeh! Scary hostile reporters like Katie Couric! Just look at how skillfully Palin parried Couric’s brutally probing interrogation!

All they have to do is turn on the Bat Shit Insane Signal.

Just call him McNugget.

He’s chicken.

winner!

Seriously, I don’t see how this can be construed as anything but a tactic. I don’t know if its because McCain is losing his marbles, or if he thought this would be a good idea genuinely. I’m almost hoping for the marbles part, because the other alternative means he thinks the American people are gullible, stupid and easily fooled. We’ve already proven that to some extent we are but this entire campaign is going into “ridiculous” mode. Palin’s interview with Katie Couric actually just plain pissed me off. She can’t even answer a basic question. What was McCain thinking when picked her? It sure wasn’t the welfare of the nation.

The only good thing about the suspension idea is that from what I’ve seen most people think he’s gone off of the deep end. I’d really like to see how it effects the polls, especially with undecided voters. A brit coworker told me this morning that when he heard about it he thought it was a comedy article.

I think what really happened is that they can’t get the official GOP radio receiver and earpiece working. Who knows what the crap McCain will say if they don’t feed him lines.

I wouldn’t worry about the delay. Obama can just say hell no, and the Pubbies are screwed. More.

Ya know, I, like many others, have been pissed off that Obama hasn’t kicked ass and fought back all of the bullshit ads and inconsistent arguments the Republicans have made over the past few months. Can you imagine the uproar if Obama had said he needed a time out to gather his thoughts on one issue?!

But maybe Obama knew all along that all he had to do was sit back, wait and watch the meltdown.

Between Palin’s disastrous interview with Couric today, and McCain admitting he needs a time out to sort things out in his mind, the Republican ticket looks like a moose in headlights…

November 4th is still over a month away, do not underestimate the Dems ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

I am starting to think this has to be done on purpose.
Isn’t it possible that the Republicans just want to take a dive?
The next president is going to have a very hard time with the country in economic crisis and the army still trapped in the Iraq quagmire.
Then in 4 years time the Republicans can point and say “See, after 4 years of Democratic reign everything is still a mess : taxes have gone up, yaddayaddayadda” and snatch the next presidency without any problems.

I can’t believe that McCain campaign team seriously think they are helping him get the presidency with stunts like this.
But then again maybe they really have this much contempt for the intelligence of the average Joe.

Ohlordy, I know…but when even my staunch, die-hard Republican brother - who lives in Arizona - is starting to get second thoughts, I think things are not looking good for McCain at this point in time.

But that’s the beauty of it. Obama CAN’T ‘just say hell no’ without being perceived by a fairly significant (?) segment of the voting population as leaving his fellow citizens to their fate in a time of dire need.

The crisis is real; the actual contribution of McCain’s presence in Washington as a major element of its resolution is an entirely different matter.

Not to single out Dmark but - As soon as I heard McCain had picked Palin I jumped for joy. My biggest fear was that he would change his mind. Many of this board expressed the same same attitude; Yay, it’s over! But then Palin-mania kicked in.

I’m willing to bet the McSheeple are going to buy this latest ploy hook, line and sinker.

I’m a native-born U.S. citizen, and I thought the same thing. For a couple of hours, actually.

Here is what I don’t get.

McCain has flip flopped on deregulation. He was for it, now that the house is burning he’s against it. He said he doesn’t understand the economy. He selected Palin as a running mate despite the troubling and hard to ignore fact that she’s really just not up to the job. …and thats just off the top of my head.

I’m not even mentioning Palin’s troubles and her utter lack of knowledge in things she just should fucking know if she wants to be VP.

So we can say it obvious that McCain makes poor decisions, and is willing to say or do anything to win, no matter how skeevy or dangerous. (if he croaked and we got President Palin…oooh boy…)

So why do the McSheeple fall for it? Who in their right minds wants 4 more years of this crap? We can’t afford it. Look at the toilet we’re in now. I can’t think of one positive thing about the McCain/Palin campaign. I honestly don’t give a shit about his POW years. That has nothing to do with right now.

I don’t get it, it has to be just a “I always vote republican” thing, not “I’ll vote for the candidate that can serve the country best”. I’m sure Obama has his flaws also, but judging by this campaign he can’t come close to McCain in the unbelievably-bad-move category.

I’m in rural western Ohio today.

The McCain move is playing extremely well here. People seem to think he’s quite a statesman for volunteering to suspend his campaign.

Just because it’s silly doesn’t mean it won’t get votes. It sounds like it’s gettinbg votes here.

You mean the same Couric that interviewed Joe Biden? She didn’t have to “brutally probe” too hard for Biden to make an idiot out of himself…again.

I’m quite sure that Palin didn’t make any comments as stupid as Biden’s. If she had, there would be at least 5 threads here calling for her to step down as VP candidate due to her ignorance of who was president when the depresion began and when television became available to the public.

No, Palin doesn’t across as that intelligent. Her interview with Couric showed that she doesn’t know a thing about her own running mate. Biden may have stepped on his tongue, but at least he doesn’t quote soundbites like a trained parrot. She’s old news at the moment anyway.
