I call bullshit on John McCain's purely political "suspension" tactic.

Does this mean you didn’t actually watch the thing? Biden made some stupid, anachronistic, unwittingly funny comments about the Depression. He was wrong, sounded dumb, everybody laughed. He meant radio and not TV, and he got the year wrong. Palin pretty much failed to answer any kind of question or display any understanding of the topics she was being asked about, including an inability to name any maverick-y things McCain had actually done regarding finance. You’re free to decide which one is more significant.

Next McCain will say we should’nt hold the election.

Again, the statement I WANT to hear from Obama:

"My opponent now wants to postpone our debate on Friday, re-schedule it for the time slot of next week’s VP debate, and postpone that debate to some unspecified time in the future.

Mr. McCain, as we say on the South Side: nigga, please."

Gee, John McCain, I never knew that World War 2 was less important than a few fat cats eating some bad paper. The War MUST have been trivial in that FDR and Dewey actually campaigned in 1944. I also think I read somewhere that both parties’ candidates campaigned in 1864 during that “trivial” Civil War.

My opinion of this so-called crisis is that if government does nothing, vultures like Warren Buffett will buy the bad paper for pennies on the dollar and life will go on as if nothing much happened for most of the rest of us.

If Govt. does get involved, then the fat cats will get their bad paper bought up by the Treasury at 10+ times what the vultures would have paid. And THEN, the Govt will hold an auction of that paper (or re-bundled “derivatives” of that paper) at which the vultures will pay the Govt. LESS than they would have paid the original owners. And we average citizens and our next four generations will be plunged into an even deeper perpetual hole of national debt than we are in now.

McChicken/Bailin’

For that matter, the (congressional) campaigns went on in 1962 when we were one misstep away from the fraking end of civilization.

Was just talking to my mom (a Republican) in southeastern Ohio this morning. She thinks McCain is a tool for doing this and this has cemented her decision to go with Obama for this election. She reports that my rabidly conservative Ann Coulter-loving uncle feels the same.

Why the hell would we want Palin to step down? Every time that hillbilly opens her mouth, it’s pennies from Heaven for Obama supporters.

Biden is a motormouth, but he’s a knowledgeable and experienced pro. Palin looks more like an amateur with every interview.

When was an American election ever decided on the intelligence of the candidates?

One of the great things about the US is that it’s President-proof. It goes on from strength to strength in spite of the dumb hicks that have managed to make it to that office (or the VP’s) in the past. And Palin is Einstein compared to some of those guys!

Can I vote that we shit-can any and all instances of sheeple? That shit was obnoxious and overdone four years ago.

1992?

Something good did come out of this: an example of actual wit over at Fark.

(Someone submitted a link to a story about this with the headline: NEWS Frail old man runs from African American asking for change.) Nice.

I don’t know.

Can Grandpa Simpson really make himself seem sufficiently incoherent and rambling to accurately represent McCain?

How many elections do you have to go through before your perception of American electorate is modified enough to be properly nervous when the Republicans run someone that’s that flavour of ridiculous?

Throw your definition of “unelectable” out the window. File it with the early nineteenth century sense of “nice,” it’s just as useful today.

“Ignorant” is a treasured value.

In the movie made of his book Faith of My Fathers he was played by Shawn Hatosy. I’m surprised that moviehasn’t been constantly replayed.

He’s meeting with Bush today, and can offer positions - and show that he can debate and work on the bailout at the same time.

I have a question though - how is Senator Maverick, the guy who supposedly didn’t go along with the Republicans who helped cause the problem, going to lead them in support of the bailout?

Is he going to spend all his time outside the doors of committee meetings he’s not invited to?

Well, the way I see it is that Senator Maverick didn’t really want to debate, and wanted to look good on the economy, so he decided to swoop into Washington for a photo-op. He was hoping he could force Obama to respond in a way that would make him appear subservient to him. He could then go and take all the glory and credit.

But luckily for us, Obama doesn’t do that. When has, by the way, Obama really played the game in a subservient way? Even the Rev. Wright thing was on his terms. Now he’s going to go down to Ole Miss to get on the air come hell or high-water. McCain is going to have to declare victory and then return for the debate because he has no other choice. The Democrats are almost done with the bill now before McCain has even arrived! So this is going to end badly for McCain, I think.

Senator Gambler! He’s doubled-down once (Palin) and it’s now hurting him. We’ll have to see how this bet works out. I guess not well.

Deal reached without McCain

Moot.

I chuckled when I saw that clip on The Daily Show last night. It didn’t bother me. We know that Biden knows when the stock market crashed, who was president at the time, and when television was invented. We know this because we’ve had 30+ years to watch him. We’ve heard him speak his own words, off the cuff, quickly, and sometimes without thinking things through.

We can’t say the same about Palin.
