blurf. Rain, but no stick wielding Sri Lankan spiders yet.
Happy Firday!
Although not too happy as the trash trucks woke me early this am. They like to back down our street so it’s BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP all the way down.
I’m surprised they haven’t bitched about the people across the street parking too close to the corner. The recycle truck driver had to get the other guys to guide him around it, the trash truck driver just knocked over all the neighbors trash cans.
It’s a wet 67 degrees outside with a high of 72 today.
My butterfly bush is starting to look happy.
Today, no matter what, I am finishing the damn announcements. I should go see the new baby. I need to go grocery shopping as well.
Good luck TP.
You know, usually when people say “Happy Friday,” I shrug, because of course I’m happy it’s Friday, that’s like saying “Congrats on not getting stung by that wasp.”
But today, I totally understand the need to say it. Because this week was stupid. There was nothing wrong with it, really. Not too terribly hot or cold, not too much or too little to do at work, I recovered from my cold, and none of the pets barfed on my bed. But man, am I glad it’s over.
However tonight … tonight I must clean. Roomie’s brother is coming for a visit, and while I’m thrilled to have him, I don’t feel like cleaning the guest room. It used to be Roomie’s room until the Great Redecoration of 2012, and half her shit is still up there because she sucks at cleaning and organization. Yesterday I told her that we’d spend the night cleaning out the hall closet–a closet I originally asked her to clean out two years ago. It hasn’t gotten done yet because I don’t like nagging her, and I am, in some ways, just as lazy as she is. (For example, the dumpster was full last night, so we did not clean out the closet.)
I’m just cranky because she’s been talking about clearing her old stuff out of the guest room for six months and it’s all still sitting there. Gah. But she does clean the bathroom, which I hate.
In other news, I stepped down from the mid-level nicotine patch to the lowest level again. I think it might be contributing to my general crank-ass-ness. But I’m still calling it a win because I used to smoke a pack a day and now I smoke two or three in the evening.
Also, it’s effing raining. Sigh.
Morning! Caffeinating; woke up well despite being awake until 1 due to open windows and no AC. House still smells like smoke, and I’m out having a morning smoke, which i don’t usually do on work days, just to get out of the house and…my smoke tastes like house smoke.
Doubt today will go by as fast as I wish it too, but ah well. Hopefully the place will air out a little today, and tomorrow is big cleaning and lots of laundry, whee!

HAPPY FIRDAY!!! Today is my last day of irk before vacation begins and I can’t wait to leave. Of course I should probably get some irk done before I go…
Now in the category of better late than never:
Congrats Apes!!!
Mooomm I foresee much tea sip-age in your future
Yay Jim for new house cave shelter place
Welcome TP. Does anyone know where the goat and squid ran off to?
And for anyone I forgot Rosie’s sig.
You’re going to TN to see Apelet??? I didn’t think you liked to drive that far.
BTW, congrats Apes! How come you went with Celeste instead of the mumper-chosen name of Apelet? ![]()
MG, howsabout Toccata & Fugue in D Minor for your ukelele concert? ![]()
It’s dark in the house & the winders are closed for the first time in about two weeks because Andrea is passing thru. Rain is hitting the piece of downspout that runs across the porch roof & making a helluva racket. I may just need to go up to my bedroom where it’s quieter. If so, I vote for the word of the day being “nappage”
Well, I figured out why. I poked my head out a different window & saw a twig/leaf hanging over the edge of the (3rd story) gutter. It’s clogged & water is overflowing & hitting the roof below. How the #$%&* is it clogged as there are no tall trees in the front of the house? :smack: I’ll have a roofer come clean out as I don’t have a ladder tall enough & he only way I can get there is to put the ladder on the back deck, climb up to the roof, over the peak, down to the front, sit down & lean over to clean out the downspout.
On other houses I wouldn’t mind doing this but did I mention that one time I was on the roof doing some work, & was just sitting there taking a break & was getting a wedgie because the roof is steep enough that even just sitting there gravity was pulling me.
Somebody brought donuts. The day is looking up.
I will have plenty of MILFH(mother in law from hell) stories after this weekend. She is here from today until Wednesday and she has already stepped in it.
wish I could say that
Appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for Anon. and TP.
It’s supposed to be rainy, so natch it’s sunny. Not that I’m complainin’ but it’s like the opposite of what the weather PTB said it would be right now.
I’ve been immersed in paperirk ocean again. This is real paperirk as in forms that must be filled out as opposed to virtual paperirk where I make casenotes and such online. I’m tahrd though so I’m takin’ a break from it for a bit then divin’ back in. I foresee maybe gettin’ outta here a little early today which would be a yay thing.
It was less exciting than I thought. Nothing but Boston Cream and plain. Not a single jelly or apple crumb in the bunch. There were, however, two boxes of munchkins, and I gorged myself while filing.
Boston Cream is my fave!
I can has quitting time?
My fav is old fashioned glazed
It’s full of weaponized Sri Lankan spiders!
Don’t go out there!
Oh, wait, Spidey. It’ll be ok, climb up there and poke it with a stick.

Good luck with the Monster-in-Law. Any friends with backhoes?
Remember they only find the bodies in shallow graves.
At least you have poo-filled items to project in her direction.
Lime is your friend
The rain is coming down harder, but still a good shower, not a deluge. As we drove to Leonardtown, I could almost hear the fields of corn saying “YAAAAAAY!!!” **FCD **took Higgs to get her nails clipped and I went to Food Lion for 4 items and came out $65 later… But except for the ice cream, it was stuff we needed, so there’s that.
I’ve got a little more surfing to do, then I think I’ll assume the knit position and watch some Netflix. No sense in working on such a soggy dreary day, right?
Came home from work so I could be here for insurance guy, only to find my dad cancelled his plans and is home too. So I’m off to walls world to get some swiffers and odorbegon, though not much that I do will matter until the ducts are cleaned. See, the AC was on the whole time, so…yeah. The smells gonna be there for weeks or forever, no matter how often we change the filter.
So, anyone need anything from the store while I’m up?
Socks for me, and I’m sure that Swampy wants a few hundred rolls of toilet paper.
