I can crack my nose...yeah

Alright, so I’m addicted to cracking whatever I can on my body. Fingers, toes, ankles, and back, it’s all fair game (haven’t figured out how to do my neck yet though). So it was to my utter delight/horror to discover that I can also crack my nose.

That’s right, my nose!

I’m not sure how I happened upon it, but it certainly wasn’t on purpose, and the mechanism itself is undoubtedly different from my other appendages, seeing as there’s no joints in the nose to crack. So how do I do it? Simple! I just press on the tip of my nose a bit to the left and CRACK. Okay, it’s not that loud – pretty soft actually, but I can feel it too.

Weird? Yes. But now I’m hooked dammit, and it’s hard to crack it in discretion! Hopefully it doesn’t do any damage…

Anyone else do this, or crack things that probably shouldn’t be cracked?

I’ve been known to freak people out by making the illusion of cracking my nose.

I don’t know if it’s from rugby or wrestling, but I can grab the cartilage on the tip of my nose and force it to the side until it pops a bit. I got the idea from seeing skulls that had flat noses. That, and being popped in the face so many times. I hate getting hit in the face.

Augh, you people.

(Okay, okay, I love stretching out and cracking all my joints in the morning.)

When I was at the university I had a Chinese roommate who was really into cracking her joints. She would bend and twist and crack her neck in ways that made me weak to hear it, but she swore by it.

Come to learn she had never seen the illusion of cracking the nose, so I did it, making a loud crack. Well, she was mightily impressed! Spent two days twisting and bending her nose around until it was red. The other Canadians about, all demonstrated how easy it was, with loud cracks, but she still didn’t get it.

When we finally showed her, she was quite miffed, as I recall. It was a pretty funny couple of days though.

Wrists. Sometimes it helps if I tense my fingers. I sort of roll my hand in a circle. And it’s a joint that, unlike your knuckles, can be repeatedly “cracked,” although the return diminishes. Wait a minute or two…crack crack crack.

I can also get repeated “mini cracks” out of my right thumb. I tense it, bend it at the joint nearest the nail. Like the wrists, it needs to “recharge” but it’s faster.

Also I can crack my jaw. It isn’t deliberate. Pre-TMJ acts up. It freaks out the ppl at the dentist’s. “Open wide…” CRACK!
