I believe this graph may explain the behaviour of otherwise intelligent folks w.r.t. lolcatz (for the record, I enjoy the pictures and the stylistic mimicry for thread titles etc. doesn’t bother me).

“I can has” is especially annoying because people put it in thread titles, where you have to read it over and over again, every time you scan a forum. “I can has Prison Break” wasn’t funny the first time I read it, and it damn sure won’t be funny the 52nd time after the next person who comments on Prison Break bumps the thread.
Then the misery compounds when people put it in Pit threads. By posting in this thread, I’m bumping yet another cloying annoying “I can has” to the top of the Pit. Fuck this crap.

In high school, there was always that one kid who didn’t let go of the inside jokes and tag lines until well after they played out. Even after you gave him an atomic wedgie and upended him into a garbage can, he’d try some stale Steve Martin line. I think the SDMB is filled with such wild and crazy guys.
