I think the SDMB is filled with such wild and crazy guys.
Well, excuuuuuuuse me!
That knee-jerk response out of the way, I agree with the OP. This “can has” thing is severely unfunny and irritating.

Ya rly
It wouldn’t be so bad, except the SDMB is always about 18 months behind on played-out internet jokes. I still read “soviet russia” and “ant overlord” jokes here…that shit hasn’t been funny in years.
Which means in about 13 months we’ll get hit with a wave of “rick rolls”.
They always come back eventually…
Yes, but when they come back will they bring something with them? a food Item perhaps…?
In high school, there was always that one kid who didn’t let go of the inside jokes and tag lines until well after they played out. Even after you gave him an atomic wedgie and upended him into a garbage can, he’d try some stale Steve Martin line. I think the SDMB is filled with such wild and crazy guys.

*Waverly!
Postin’ in the pit!
The Wave-ster!
Waver-ama!
Waver-lama-ding-dong!*
I thought that was another grammar thread. Oh well, I’m MUCH angrier than anyone in that thread, and I’ll maintain that this topic is worthy of additional bile.
I’m as angry as you are, I just don’t (didn’t) express it as well. Take the helm, with my blessing!
Again, I fall back to the DFTT position. I just don’t get how someone can make manifest his dislike of something by using it and bumping threads on it.
I am (mercifully) shielded enough from the internets and general pop culture that I normally learn of such things through the SDMB or the F1 forum I frequent (what are those rick rolls they speak of, btw?). By then, they are played out enough, that all I get is the backlash of the “I am tired of…” comments, and they never get to be enough to bother me.
For those of you “out there” enough to suffer those memes, my hearfelt sympathies. Except when you are perpetuating them yourselves, then you just sound like you are trying to be cool by showing you know of the meme and tired of it.
I never saw this “I can has…” thing until today. It’s still kinda funny to me, but I imagine it won’t be so funny next week. I can has a few more days to laugh at it?
“What is so goddam interesting about a fat, grey Russian cat asking for a cheeseburger?”
It’s not funny if it has/can be explained.
(it’s not funny if it has can be explained)

I’d show you but I don’t want to encourage the practice here and earn your undying hatred. Instead, I’ll just provide you with a good definition.
(And for those of you who know what a “rick roll” is, don’t worry. The link is perfectly safe. I promise.
)
Zoid, another outburst like that, and I’ll spend every waking moment trying to figure out where you live so that I can hire a couple of guys to give you an atomic wedgie using your shoes.
picunurse, that’s mighty gracious of you. I swear if had realized your thread wasn’t about grammar, I would have read it and posted in it.
Sapo, come off it already. I didn’t explain myself to you for the same reason I don’t teach physics to squirrels. Just for grins, I’ll spend 5 seconds trying to answer your question: I used the phrase 1) so that people knew what I was talking about! Seems logical. 2) because if you go out of your way to avoid the phrase you end up with a thread that consists entirely of “I can has” drive-by’s. I still have a bunch, but pre-empted many more.

Yes, it sounds like Scooby-Doo naming his favorite sex act, but it’s quite SFW. Well, except that if you did it to me at my work, I’d break your face. Not so safe, I guess.
I’m so glad it never caught on here.

So basically, since you’ve decided to be a killjoy and have your sense of silly fun surgically removed, we all need to follow suit? Your objections will be, ah, taken under advisement.
I can has peoplez, like way back in post #3, not saying “meme” no more? It tired and bug me more than lolcats.
KTHXBAI
C’mon, folks? Aren’t we dumb enough already? Haven’t we dumbed-down the largest media revolution in history to the point where it is nothing more than millions of terabytes of pron, inane blogs, spam, and greasy basement dwellers looking to cyber with other greasy basement dweller claiming to be 20 year old hotties?
I can has break yet?
Before I turn this over so that someone can post, “first!” and someone else can post, “I is in your pit, leeting up your thread,” let me ask: What is so goddam interesting about a fat, grey Russian cat asking for a cheeseburger? It isn’t edgy enough to be irreverent, and it certainly isn’t outright funny. It reminds me of the type of thing a 45 year old shut-in with 15 cats would tape to her refrigerator. It’s about as gut-bustingly funny as a Precious Moment statue.

This.

Dude, if funny cat captions rock your world, have at it. If speaking as if you are the cat in those captions makes you giggle, go for it. Just don’t expect everyone to like it, or tolerate it without comment. You are acting as if I had the ability to ban lolcats or something. I know I have strong opinions, but you can’t possibly be that confused.

No, I don’t read Fark or slash-dot, though I have an idea of what they are. What is the joke?
My last post is just an example of what you’d find in the threads at Fark - a site with a huge amount of ‘I can has cheezburger?’ lolcatz. Your OP reminded me of Fark. That’s all. The “/does not read Fark” postscript was in reference to me, not you.
/not really
//now I can’t remember who it was directed at
///never mind

Come off it right back at you, man. What is your beef with me again? Did I step on you on a previous thread?
Waverly is one of my least favorite posters ever but…
I think I agree with him on this one.
