Tonight’s Buffy was…interesting…but the minute Willow said it I could just imagine Andygirl. Okay, I couldn’t actually hear her. It’s not like I have witchy magical powers that let me hear people who aren’t, you know, here.
Just hadda share that–mundane much?
Cheers,
Peta (aka B-Watcher in some alternate universe)
p.s. This can now be the obligatory new Buffy the Vampire Slayer thread, yes? Did anyone else know there was a new VHS boxset available–color me surprised!
The complete 1st season on DVD was available at Amazon for pre-orders ($40 price tag), but they pulled it since BtVS is entering re-run syndication and they didn’t want to dilute the market before it was sold.
The DVDs are supposed to be released for sale in a few months or so.
I’d been following the DVD stuff (eager to purchase); first postponed and then canceled all together for the U.S. anyway. Hadn’t heard if that status had changed.
As far is the eps is concerned overall–I thought it was necessary for plot movement and had some good lines–okay, killer lines, but I was a little underwhelmed. I’ll have to check my tape to see who that troll was–his voice and what I could see of his face was familiar. Anyone know?
The Willow-Anya bit seemed a bit too reminiscent of Willow-Oz (when Oz told Willow that she and Xander would always have a past, always know each other better than he could know her). I thought the story had a lot more potential but they didn’t develop it and rushed through it. And after all these years of practice you’d think that Buffy, Giles and Joyce would have learned a LITTLE more discretion about secrets.
Don’t know if y’all heard about a recent article/interview with Tony Head, but I guess he’s adjusting his schedule to spend more time with his family in England and less on the set. The implication is not necessarily less Giles (could that be possible at this? <sigh>) but less time by Head in America/on-set.
I think you’re right–thank you!! It was bothering me so much last night, but I was out of the room during the credits and had to finish work so I couldn’t check last night. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I KNEW I knew that voice!
Maybe it’s just me, but I found the whole “gay now” thing to be a bit … odd. So Willow now has zero interest in men? If Tara were (Goddess forbid) bumped off there would still be no chance for Oz? Did Willow’s sexuality change? Or were her previous relationships a fluke? I considered Willow bisexual myself, but that possibility seemed ruled out by the episode.
I’m with you, Trion. It doesn’t take anything away from Willow’s relationship with Tara to recognize that she’s bisexual.
OTOH, “Gay Now!” was a useful shorthand way of stating for Anya’s benefit that her current priorities don’t include stealing Xander from her.
Maybe we can decide to hear the sentence as “gay now,” as distinguished from “gay always.”
Incidentally, I wonder how well known this is: Alyson Hannigan, who plays Willow, is dating Alexis Denisof, who plays nebbishy-but-improving Wesley Windham Price on Angel.
Willow and Wesley. Hold on while I try to get my mind around that.
BTW, I am in possession of VHS box sets up to Season 4 Ep 11 (Doomed), but on the other hand we’ve only got to 5.1 as far as TV is concerned. So you could come to live in Europe, but it’s a trade-off.
