… into a full-fledged dance tune! I heard it on the radio this morning - it’s supposed to be a disco-fied square dance song. ROFL!
I am shocked and stunned myself. Over both the fact that Hamster Dance is indeed on the radio, and that you just heard it. Where have you been living? In a cave?
just search “hampster” in your good old fashioned napster. you’ll be glad you did.
lolagranola, are we talking about the same thing? I heard the tune a long time ago, but just heard the extended dance re-mix this morning.
Since the only time I get to listen to the radio is in my car when I commute, and I don’t do napster-related stuff, I confess it’s possible that it’s been out for a while without my hearing it. If that means I’m living in a cave, ah well… woldn’t be the first time THAT’s happened.
If that’s on the radio, I’m NOT coming out of this cave.
They play that on the radio?
I must be listening to the right stations, as I have never heard that godawful tune on the radio.
I am very thankful that I have never heard that on the radio, and am now afraid to change stations in case I accidentally come across it.
We had better be talking about the same thing. If there’s another disco-fied remix of that… that… SONG (?) on the radio, then it’s two too many! They’ve been playing it on the radio here for what seems like forever, but may only be a month or so in real time. I haven’t been so annoyed since I was forced to listen to “Cotton-Eyed Joe” 452 times every night at work.
PS.
If they keep playing it, make some room for me in your cave. I don’t think that I can bear the pain much longer.
I have yet to hear it on the radio (then again, I listen to very little radio), but it showed up in my friend’s mp3s mid-April. So it’s been around for a while. And, as far as I know, there’s only one. We can hope. And I can hope never to hear it on the radio. Or again, ever. So . . . willing to share that cave?
Lola just listens to the wrong radio station… mine would never play something like that…
lol
If you’re talking about the ‘doo-de-doo-doot-doo-de-doo-doo’ tune, that’s actually originally from the Disney movie of Robin Hood. The rooster playing Alan A’Dale sings it. Voiced by Mac Davis.
The song is called Cognoscenti vs Intelligentsia by a one-hit-wonder dance act called The Cuban Boys.
It was a minor chart hit in the UK last year (link here) - the link also contains an audio sample.
Yeah! I was channel surfing one day and ran across this movie on the Disney Channel. Heard the tune over the closing credits and at first couldn’t place it because it is “sung” in a normal rhythm…not all “hampsterfied” like on the site. It was really strange…
I knew there was something vaguely familiar about that tune… AUGH!
