Took a happy little detour, to the Dome of the Rock… wore her little veil of attrition and everything… and still can’t comprehend why it was received so badly.
Wtf do they think? That Bushco and their policies will just be… ignored? If they send the lovely Laura on a goodwill tour? I mean, the female/Muslim slight aside… did the administration think that this act would sway all of the Israeli Muslim community? Did they think the sending of a mere woman (their take…), instead of her husband, would make it better? That this would make up for all the Muslims GWB has killed?
Um… Mr. Asshole… I know what MY words mean. I wondered what Askancemeant. Your condescending post doesn’t say a thing about his meaning, MY post, Ms. Bush OR the OP…
She kinda looks like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in that picture… the entire story is just …weird.
Come on, we made an important step with a peach-colored puppet. How many peach-colored puppets must Laura Bush talk to, and teach to read, in order to end this madness?!
Panda to my knowledge, nobody has said that discussion on the topic of the OP isn’t valid. And I don’t see more than one person being less than calm.
As for the OP, I fail to see what’s wrong with Ms Bush attempting to create better relations with the Muslim community of the world. Who better to serve as a diplomat than the wife of the president? I’m not sure that anybody we sent would have got a substantially better response.
Just think what the Muslim reaction would have been if Bush hadn’t visited the Dome of the Rock after visiting the Western Wall. The protests were unpleasent, sure, but she seemed to make a good show of keeping her composture and making the best of a sticky situation. Face it: that’s the way things work around here. If you’re on a diplomatic mission to israel, you have to visit the Wall, or else the Israelis will feel insulted. And if you visit the Wall, you have to visit the Dome, or else the Muslims will feel snubbed. It’s called politics, and it’s what the Bushes do for a living.
Incidentally, women are allowed to enter mosques. There’s no rule in Islam against it. The Wakf (the Muslim body that oversees the Temple Mount) wouldn’t have approved the visit if this was the case.
:amazed: She goes to the most holy site in Moslem. (Shut up! I don’t know what to call them correctly.) After we have killed 1000’s and 1000’s of them… And her arrogance. Women, right or wrong, are not considered real humans. Of course GEORGE didn’t have the balls to go…
Why is this thread wrong? Because you say so? Bush sends his SECOND to the most holy site in Islam, a woman to boot, just to piss them off more, and you don’t see my point???
