See it how you like. They see it how they like. In a war zone, people hardly have memory for the last decade, let alone 60 years. And with all of the bullshit, lies and mis-/disinformation spouted by all sides in all of the conflicts, they don’t know what to believe.
So it is us, the great evil. I don’t like it any more than you do, but the Bushes knew it and to write it off as emotions running high is an insult to all that has transpired there in the last 5 years or so.

I have to at least applaud Laura’s bravery. If I were as controversial a figure as Bush I would never let my wife go to Israel. While you have the lunatic fringe political opposition everywhere, over there it seems the fringe has been woven into a nice vest and matching slacks; when you have that many people who have no fear of dying along with their target, all the Secret Service in the world aren’t a surety of safety. She could have been killed (along with everybody around her) by some nutjob strapped with dynamite and nails or other fanatic. That took guts.
I haven’t read Israel’s constitution. But, I’m guessing with our history of shtetls, pogroms, and dhimi laws, Israeli law protects freedom of speech and freedom of assembly very strongly. What was Israel doing allowing those people to protest? Abiding their own laws. Showing what democracy is all about. That kind of thing.

Huh? In her place, I’d feel safer their than at home. Israeli secret security (heck Israeli security in general) is IMO far superior to that of our government.
I know that Alessan’s already addressed this point, but as a Muslim woman, you are bang out of line. You don’t know the first thing about Islam and the position of women in Islam.
Women are not second class citizens, women are not in any way considered less than human. In fact, women are considered, and indeed, in Islamic theology, they are created equal to men. Yes, men and women are given different secular responsibilities, but spiritually, and in terms of status accorded to men and women, men and women are absolute equals. Allah does not favour one over the other. I could go into more detail, but I fear the point would probably be lost on you, bigoted as you appear to be.
