Congrats to you! I think you’ve made a very wise choice, for what it’s worth!
Whoa. You are* hard core*!
Seriously, that must have felt great. I hope everything continues to go well for you.
Cool. Pretty much in keeping w/ how you’ve presented yourself around here.
Respect you willingness to take concrete action and accept responsibility for making things better for yourself. Eager to hear how it turns out.
Good to hear. And from what you say, it serves them right that you gave no notice. Screw 'em!
I am happy for you.
I can relate. Sometimes you have to send a message, even if they won’t understand it.
Good choice.
The best people I know have always told me that one should never be afraid of leaving a job. Yes it is scary and all that-but it must always be an option.
After a rest, look for a job and then look for a place to live (hopefully where you are now but don’t let that be a weight around your neck). Just know that you did the right thing.
Doors close and doors open.
You future looks brighter.
Keep us deformed.
One of the things that tell you a hard decision was right is that even though parts of your brain are still screaming “nooooooooo!”, your stomach suddenly remembers it is not truly required to churn constantly.
May your next job be churn-free (unless it’s in a dairy).
Nice.
Best of luck, Leaffan!
Tonight, on a “school night,” I’m staying up and watching whatever.
A few celebratory beverages may be in volved.
Leaffan, Good for you! Do not sweat the next job, just enjoy your time off.
Remember, we are pulling for you, 48.
Cool. Reward/console/insulate yourself. But at some point I hope to hear you are getting off that couch and doing SOMETHING positive and goal-directed. And that means I HOPE you don’t view your new situation as license to just hang around HERE more often. This place is for those of us needing breaks from our godawful boring jobs, not folk like you who have the freedom to actually live lives!
Congrats and good luck, dude. And remember: the last part of this act is landing on your feet, whatever form that may take.
Leaffan, I’m happy you have taken the plunge and committed to a course of action. Too many people spend their life scared about doing something to change it and resign themselves to the easy option; I applaud your courage. I don’t know what the future holds for you, but I suspect you will be alright. This would be a good time to look at what you always WANTED to do and not what you have to do. Once you’ve recovered from the celebration maybe hit the library and look at a couple of books like What Colour is Your Parachute or $100 Start-up and spend a few days thinking about what you want to do next.
Now, about your questionable taste in hockey clubs…
Well done!. Now sit back and relax and de-stress yourself. Then get cracking on your next employment.
Great news! I hope you felt a weight lift and can now focus on getting yourself re-balanced and figure out what is next
Awesome,
Two years ago I didn’t leave - I couldn’t sleep, was breaking out in hives. I had an “episode of decompensation” at work (they don’t call it a nervous breakdown any more, although that is very evocative of what happened) and ended up in the psych ward for four days. Heavy meds, therapy. I just took a part time contract starting last week - and driving into work I was shaking from the PSTD, the only thing that got me in was the knowledge that a friend from my nervous breakdown job had vouched for me, and I didn’t want to screw her over.
It was a similar deal, being asked to move mountains, that management really didn’t want moved to start with.
I wish I would have just left - it would have been far healthier.
Enjoy some time off and then find something to do that won’t drive you around any bends. Home Depot sounds lovely. I had dreams of a coffee shop.
Hello! Just checking in. How are you doing? Feeling better?
