I can't do it anymore. (Work)

Leaffan, I am glad to hear that it is going so well. A small lifestyle change to get less stress seems to be in order here. Less money can be dealt with.

Hang in there, I am still pulling for you. 48.

I just received a LinkedIn offer (pending all kinds of shit, I’m sure) for a two to three month contract job in AEU.
I’m qualified and have nothing holding me back.
I’m following up.

Nuts?

No reason not to follow up. It never hurts to find out more about the situation. Help me out - what is AEU?

Crap. I tried to edit it and missed. UAE is what I meant: United Arab Emirates.

It’s at a new-build nuclear facility.

Look very closely at the work contract before you take the job in UAE. How hard would it be to leave should you decide you have to?

Also, I don’t know how much this matters to you, but UAE has an abysmal record on human rights. Even if it doesn’t affect you directly, it could make living there uncomfortable for you.

I know all about the conditions. I’m also lead to believe that living conditions within the “compound” can be acceptable.

Stay tuned.

I think there are some folks on the Board who have worked there. You might want to start a thread on it before you make a final decision. Candidly, since you’re a man, I think it’s a better choice for a short-term gig than it would be for a woman. Just make sure you know what you’re getting into as far cultural restrictions. I think it could be an interesting experience.

I may start such a thread once, or if, things progress.

Merci.
