Up in the upper left, there’s a link called “User CP”. Click on that, and there’s an area to edit your profile, including a place to change your e-mail.
Please note that changing your email address will temporarily disable your account. You will receive an email at the new address, which you must act on in order to reactivate it. If you mistype your new email, you will not be able to post until you contact one of the administrators to fix the problem, so take care in making the change. I speak from experience!
… and please do make the change. Lots of awkward things can arise if’n ya don’t.
Thanks QED but at this point I can’t get through the forms. I got in here on my old password and email address. When I looked at the date I registered I realized my email address is different. I can’t seem to change it so I will simply bow out and find another forum. I don’t need this aggravation in trying to post. Yes, I sent in my payment via VISA and rather than try to cancel it, I will just move on.
I was sent a new password but the system will not accept it. Come on! I’m old and gray and simply want to post not take an IQ test. :dubious:
Email one of the admins. I see Dex is about, since he just posted, so he’d be a good choice. He can fix it for you. Be sure to include your Doper name and “SDMB” in the message subject. No need to throw in the towel just yet!
I don’t know what exactly your problem is here, but I did take a look at your account and everything appears to be as it should be.
You should be able to sign in with your password and do whatever you need or want to be doing.
Since I was in the account anyway, I went ahead and changed your email address to reflect the change you wanted. But you could have changed it yourself; all you had to do was go to the User Control Panel and put in the requisite change.
You were NOT sent a new password. (Unless you requested that your password be changed, which you did not indicate.)
All email and password changes generate a confirmation email, which contains a key that must be entered on a url address; this automatically moves your registration from the security holding queue into the member database. That’s a one-time-use code only.
I’m sorry that your experience here has not been to your liking. I don’t know how we can accommodate you so that you would feel more positive and less annoyed.
