I coulda been a STAR in the MMP!!

gotti, don’t you just hate that the insurance companies always want stuff faxed? When you think of how many of us don’t have landlines anymore, that means that the time we’re supposed to be recuperating, we’re trekking down to Office Max to send them a book.

I’m sorry for your losses, herbs. You’re brother will be in my thoughts.

There are internet based fax services, most with free 30-day trials. Scan in your docs, save 'EM as .pdfs, and fax 'em via the 'net.

TVCTPMO brought in reinforcements today. Is it Humpday yet?

as far as dream jobs:
Fighter pilot: Hideous vision.
Musician: 6th Grade band teacher told me to get a day job.
Writer: One one thing for a newsletter, never was published.
Cartoonist: Internationally known*, with tens [del]of thousands[/del] of fans. Mission accomplished!

Me, too. Isn’t it fun waiting for which part of your body your immune system is gonna declare Jihad on next?

Welcome back, Boofae!

Sorry the day sucked, sari.

Prayers and {{{{{{hugs}}}}} sent, Herbs.:frowning:

*Boofae, Lunch, and Haze have seen 'em, so it’s true.

My sis closed down the bar early tonight. She doesn’t expect any rioters to hit FellsPoint, but to be safe, most of the businesses shut down early tonight.

I’m shutting down, too.

MWAH!!

Usual CTPMO on the part of the so-called public transit system. About the only part it hits on any sort of regular basis is “public”. As for “transit”, iffy. As for “system”, BWAHAHAHA!!!

Got home to find lots of fire trucks about. Called DH, confirmed our place is OK, did find that the fire had been in an apartment two doors down from a couple in our congregation. Left voicemail with them asking for a check-in call.

I have to bang out a preliminary draft of a research paper TONIGHT to post for peer review. This paper wasn’t due for two weeks yet, and I have just about NOTHING written!

One of the pictures on CNN’s website shows what appears to be a looter coming out of CVS. He’s holding a CVS shopping bag in his right hand & his left had is up in the air holding…a 12 pack of AngelSoft.
Imagine that, a looter that can bring a tear to Swampy’s eye.

  • Other than that, horrible & awful there.

Just got back from Baltimore. What a night.

Not too close to the action, but close enough.

Sadly if you know anything about those areas of Baltimore, this comes as exactly no surprise.

Home, early doctors appointment, and back into the war zone tomorrow.

All I know is one of the slave holding states in the Union during the Civil War, hence a large population of African Americans.
Do tell.

Update on my comparatively minor woes: a rather pathetic rough draft is uploaded, which gives me back most of the next two weeks to improve this [bleep] thing. Amazing how hard it is to find useful references on how employee absenteeism affects businesses.

I’ve gotten the requested check-in call from the couple I was concerned about earlier. They’re fine and very much appreciated the concern.

DH is now making a run to nearby grocery store for some Mt. Dew I’m going to need (the next two weeks, which represent the end of a VERY busy semester, will probably involve ridiculous caffeine intake) and a TV dinner I’m craving. Hoping to be in bed by 11, midnight looks more feasible, and I have to get up at 5. Ugh.

Up, caffeinated, off to work.

One hundred & fourty years ago (which is more than twice the age of a certain old [del]goat[/del] bear that hangs around here - in other words, a looooong time ago) the war ended. You lost. Get over it!
Awake, can’t sleep, a lot on my mind, some good, some bad. :frowning:

The riots in Baltimore seem to prove that some idiots will use any excuse to steal and destroy. There was an interview on TV with a woman who owned a beauty shop which had been totally trashed, asking what did hair have to do with the police treatment of the boy who died. A senior community center under construction was burned. Phone store looted, grocery store looted, cars burned… There were groups of men walking the streets trying to help control the crazies - just citizens, not police - apparently they weren’t entirely successful. And now a neighborhood is without its pharmacy and its citizens are without their meds. Video showed prescription bags all over the ground, pills scattered, people smashing cash drawers. Yeah, that makes a statement.

Quite a welcome home for my mom and the others on the cruise ship that just pulled in to Baltimore. What a mess for the city. People are idiots. And Spidey, you’re right - people who are still seriously hung up on the Civil War are pretty pathetic. I dealt with far too many of them in Florida. Here, I can mostly avoid them.

But down here in the boonies, no riots or fires. I mostly slept thru the night, so yay for that. And it’s supposed to be a mild day, so yay for that also. Not sure what I’ll do today - I really need to run the mower.

Must continue caffeine ingestion. Happy Tuesday.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 61 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 71 and rain startin’ at some point. Looks like maybe by early evenin’. We shall see.

Today I shall take twuck in for an oil change and tire rotation as it’s time for all that stuff. I envision bein’ there at seven-thirty this a. of m.

{{{Herbs}}} sorry for your losses.

Nettie yay for gettin’ your draft paper uploaded. May the next two weeks go by fast and easy.

Spidey actually, it’s been one hundred and fifty years and yeah, folks need to get over it all.

Ok, that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Then I must purtify. One must be presentable at one’s car dealership after all.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Much like Macho Grande, some people will never be over The War of Northern Aggression[sup][sup]TM [/sup][/sup]

AKA The Late Unpleasantness.

I’m all purtified, brekkied, and medicated. I’m sure you all are glad to know I am medicated. Soon I shall head on over and get twuck all oil changed and shoes rotated. Fun times! Oh, and I have a pot roast in the slow cooker for dindin. Go Me!

**swampy **- I assume the medication is to prevent episodes like this. That would be bad. That would be very bad.
I seem to be having a bit of trouble getting motivated. Probably because the thought of mowing the ditch is not a pleasant one. That, and it’s still chilly out. I ain’t mowin’ while it’s in the 40s. Nope. I need to revise my to-do list - delete the completed items and add some more. Maybe I’ll do that now.

And empty the dishwasher. I ran it last night, so it’s full of clean stuff that needs to be stowed. Good times.

My bad, it twas too early to do complex math (that’s a lot of years to add up).

Do you have a George Jetson twuck? Don’t the tires rotate when you drive it? :stuck_out_tongue:

Back at irk from vacay. Was at the Rolex in Kentucky. Had a wonderful time as always. Met new friends and saw old friends. The bar on course ran out of strawberries for the Man O’Wars (made with Maker’s Mark) so I settled for a Bloody Mary.

As a teen, my dream was to be a model. I used to pore over Seventeen magazine and send for the brochure “Be A Model, Or Look Just Like One.” I wanted to go to finishing/model school, but being from the south side of Chicago, there wasn’t a local finishing/model school. In high school I wanted to be a veterinarian but by the time I hit college I didn’t want to study that hard. So I ended up a librarian.

Happy Toosday!

It’s a sunny 45 degrees, going up to 57 later.
The rest of the week looks like it’s going to be warmer.

(((Herbs)))

Best wishes and vibes your way. Be safe out there.

You ain’t just whistling Dixie!
