A long time ago, on late-night TV, I saw a film that amazed me. It was a comedy. I remember very little except that it took place in a haunted house. Two scenes stick in my mind: 1) a black man is so scared he turns white and 2) a black man in a fur coat is mistaken for a gorilla. I know these are fairly common “jokes” from the 1930s, but I’d like to see this film again.
It’s not The Gorilla (1939) starring The Ritz Brothers (at least, those scenes aren’t in the laserdisc version I watched a few years ago). Any ideas?
