I don't get the video for Josh Turner's "Long Black Train"

I really, really don’t understand the country music video for “Long Black Train” by Josh Turner.

Now, the lyrics I understand perfectly, there’s a train run by the devil that takes it upon itself to judge sinners and carry them to Hell. If you’re Christian, apparently, you’ll survive the train, and the temptations of sin. OK.

Well, the music video features various people standing on the train tracks letting the train pass through them, and if they are redeemed, they survive it. If they aren’t, well, they go “ridin’ on that long black train.” The thing that I don’t understand about it is the people portrayed as sinners.

There’s a gambler, and drug users, but they also show an obese man and a single mother. Also, they show a pregnant teenager, and of course, the man who got her pregnant is nowhere to be seen, 'cause you know, of course HE didn’t sin, but SHE did.

I’m not getting why being fat is a sin. I’m not Christian, so maybe that has something to do with it, but I don’t understand why some of these people are portrayed as sinners.

It’d be my guess that the fat man is supposed to be representative of gluttony.

The other six deadly sins are pride, envy, lust, anger, greed, and sloth. I suppose the fat man could also be guilty of sloth in some eyes.

Most people would probably single the pregnant teen out for lust. I’ve no idea why the single mother is in there, though. Adultery?

Oh, and the site I linked to is by no means a source of canon for any religion. Just a disclaimer, should anyone take objection.

Well, I’m going back to eating Nutella out of the jar. Oh, but I will be force-fed creepy-crawlies in hell.. Yes, I will. Oooh, Nutella.
