I don't know jack about setting up a phone for a Blue tooth in the ear thingy, where should I go

My fella needs. He’s pretty deaf and has tinnitus as well. He can’t carry his phone in like a belt holster since he’d never hear it. He keeps it in his breast pocket, where it falls out too often. He had to buy a special “pound it with a hammer it won’t break phone” for that reason.

So Bluetooth is the answer, right?? The thingie-do in the ear that means you can talk on your phone when it’s in its case on your belt??? Where do I go to buy that set up, and yeah, when it comes to this stuff, I am dumb as a rock. Best Buy?? Don’t send me to Verizon (his carrier), those people are ASSHOLES.

There’s really nothing to “set up.”
You buy it, pair it to the phone (a 3-second operation), and once it’s turned on, it will automatically connect to the phone from then on.

In your phones settings app go to connections. Punch blue tooth. It will tell you what to do.

If he’s got the phone I think he might from the description (Kyocera Dura?), settings has nothing called “connections”. It does have something called “wireless and networks” and Bluetooth is in there.

Beyond that, I’ve got no help whatsoever. I couldn’t get Bluetooth to work on mine to transfer photos to my desktop, I gave up and plugged in a cable.

Yup, that’s amazing, that’s his phone. Thanks!

If it’s an Android, pull the top ‘shade’ down and in there you’ll see something that either says bluetooth or has the icon for it (kind of looks like a sideways bowtie/two triangles). Hold it down and it’ll take you to the bluetooth settings page. Then read the directions that come with it for pairing it.
It’ll basically consist of pressing some buttons on the headset and watching for it to pop up on the phone. That’s kinda it, it’s not overly complicated.

If you really need help, I’d imaging the people at Best Buy can do it. Otherwise, buy it at the store where the phone is from (or bring it in) and ask them for help. However, I’d highly recommend you learn how to do it since at some point down the line, you’ll need to do it again.

I needed a phone that would: fit in my pocket; be reasonably waterproof; and be hard to break. That’s pretty much what I found – and while it may not be the only such phone in existence, I think it’s the only one Verizon carries.

So when you said hard to break, Verizon, and breast pocket, that’s what came to mind.

About all I do with it is make the occasional phone call, take a few pictures, and use it as a hotspot when the ISP goes down. So I’m no help at getting it to do anything else.

Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard used for exchanging data between fixed and mobile devices over short distances. In addition to the phone, you need a headset.
The headset can fit :
[ul]
[li]over one ear. Note that these can be easily changed to work over the desired ear.[/li][li]over one ear w/ a boom mic[/li][li]wirelessly in both ears[/li][li]connected in the ears or [/li][li]over the ears[/li][/ul]
Those are just some of the varieties from one company’s website. First is to figure out which kind you want, which is more personal preference as they should all do the same thing. Then go to the store/online & buy the one you like/is in your price range.
Also note that if you have a pair, frequently one of them is the ‘master’. If that’s in, say, your right ear & your phone is on your left hip it may not work so well, sometimes causing dropouts. Either flip them around, if possible, or move your phone to the other side of your body which both shortens the distance of the wireless connection & removes the obstacle (you) between them.
Follow Joey P’s directions to get into the bluetooth menu on your phone; there should be a “pair new device” option; choose that (after making sure your headseat is on, & in pairing mode as well).

Also, almost like a Nazi symbol, I found out this week.
