I am 20 and I never really liked Sports. I have always thought they were boring and uninteresting. I am far more interested in science fiction, fantasy, movies, video games, computers, technology, science, and other interest. I just don’t like sports. Is that normal?
No, that’s not normal at all.
I suggest that you see a doctor immediately.
Define normal?
My interests are similar to yours, although I have developed an interest in Formula One over the past few years.
Just don’t become one of those ‘eurgh, sports suck’ people. We hate it when people say that about stuff we like, so why say it about stuff other people like? It makes the planet more interesting when different people have different interests.
As you get older you will find you have less need for validation from your peer group.
Sports suck.
Sorry. My mistake.
I just checked on the Internet and apparently you’re quite normal.
BURN THE WITCH!
(Then put their ashes in a small trophy and play cricket for them!)
I don’t like sports
but I’ve never been accused of being normal.
Yes, you are weird, but so am I.
Have you considered reading some books about sports?
Some of them can be quite heavy and would undoubtedly help with your muscle-tone and appalling posture.
I don’t like opera - am I weird?
I don’t like horse racing - am I weird?
I don’t like internet gaming - am I weird?
I don’t like chili - am I weird?
<shrug>
You sound like a classic nerd and/or geek. Among such people, it is totally normal to be uninterested in sports.
If you want to be interested in sports (perhaps because you envy the fun or camaraderie that sports fans appear to have), I would suggest learning more about them, starting with the rules and strategies and traditions of one particular sport and one particular team to root for. And/or, engaging in some sports-related activity yourself, even if it’s only shooting some hoops or playing a sports-themed video game. But don’t feel obligated to develop an interest if you don’t want to.
Mostly, I’d echo Sandra_nz’s advice:
There’s nothing wrong with not liking sports. Just don’t be the guy with the kneejerk hatred for sports because the kids who picked on him played them. That guy is damaged goods.
Its that other stuff that makes you weird.
lots of people don’t play sports, so it’s OK.
not watching sports now that’s abnormal. you need to watch even if you don’t like it. at least watch horse racing even bowling or billiards, something.
the Olympics, that’s only every couple years. there’s floor exercises.
wait you’ve got video games, there has to be some sports element there. GTA is like auto racing. plenty of shooting games that have marksmanship. armies are like team sports.
Pathetic, but normal.
I’m one of the few people in my closest peer group that likes sports. I go to games by myself all the time. I’m the one who’s weird.
It’s all a matter of perspective.
The people who like to remind Facebook all the time about how it’s Sunday and they are totally not watching football, or post “LOL” along with the ecard “This is me not giving a fuck about World Cup” … those people aren’t weird they are assholes.
Not enough information available. Please explain what “other interest” is and maybe we can help.
Are you a clone of me 40 years ago? I still don’t like sports. Never have, never will.
Hi, my name is campp, and you might remember me from such threads as: I’m A Guy and I Don’t Like Sports and Why Don’t Women Like Pink Floyd?
